So what, I hear you say ... No big thing if the port icon vanishes from the network connections section on my win7 installation...
Well it is
I have a piece of software I run on this very nice pcspecialist ordered laptop (thx for the service - works very well) that requires a logical port to authenicate against to work and if the port vanishes - the software does not work and my job does not get done.
I have looked EVERYWHERE to find a command that will allow the port to show as disconnected rather than vanish completely when the network cable is removed. I have traweled the Microsoft forums and specialist technical forums and haven't found how I can enable the icon.
