Please look over this spec

Good morning,

I am looking for a new computer to replace my old one. I would like it to be somewhat 'future proof', to be good for 3 years or so, (hence being high end) without being too ridiculous. I would like it to be able to run many things at once when needed, but also perform well on some of the more intensive games. It will also be used in a dual monitor setup.

With that in mind I have constructed the following:

Case
FRACTAL DEFINE R4 BLACK PEARL QUIET MID-TOWER CASE
Overclocked CPU
Overclocked Intel® Six Core i7-3930K (3.2GHz @ max 4.6GHz)
Motherboard
ASUS® P9X79 PRO: INTEL® SOCKET LG2011
Memory (RAM)
16GB KINGSTON HYPERX BEAST DUAL-DDR3 2400MHz X.M.P (2 x 8GB KIT)
Graphics Card
2GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 760 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready
Free Item
FREE SPLINTER CELL BLACKLIST GAME with GTX 660 & 7 Series GPUs!
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
240GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, SATA 6 Gb (450MB/R, 450MB/W)
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Power Supply
CORSAIR 650W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX650 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE (£79)
Processor Cooling
Corsair H80i Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler (£69)
Thermal Paste
ARCTIC MX-4 EXTREME THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY COMPOUND (£9)
Sound Card
ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)
Network Facilities
10/100/1000 GIGABIT LAN PORT - AS STANDARD ON ALL PCs
USB Options
MIN. 2 x USB 3.0 & 6 x USB 2.0 PORTS @ BACK PANEL + MIN. 2 FRONT PORTS
Operating System
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit w/SP1 - inc DVD & Licence (£79)

Could you more knowledgeable people please take a look over it and see if anything could be changed to improve the balance or lower the cost.

Thank you

It depends on your intended use, for gaming the cpu is overkill and the gpu is probably mid range not high end.

It would be helpful if you could post what your budget is (or what the spec you listed came to). And will you be using it for more than gaming (you mentioned running many things at once, but not which things)?

My first thoughts are that you don't need an i7 for gaming, particular a 6 core one. An i5 is pretty much ideal even for very top end gaming. An i7 really only offers a benefit for video/photo editing or computer modelling stuff.

Assuming you don't need the i7, with the money you save on the i5 you could upgrade the GPU - that's the most important item for most gaming.

Finally you don't have an HDD (only an SSD) and 240GB of storage may not go very far. This is fine if you have an existing HDD that you intend to add to the system, but otherwise you should consider adding an HDD as well.

My apologies I will explain a bit more.

The spec I posted was ~£1650. The things I mostly run concurrently are: internet browsing while watching a video while playing online mmo's while voip. I am going to be using a HDD from my old system, the SSD is to store and run windows and my most used programs from.

My budget is in the £1500 range (though can go up to £1750ish for the right computer). That is not including monitor and other peripherals.

I take it this would be more appropriate:

Case
PCS MAELSTROM T900 BLACK GAMING CASE
Overclocked CPU
Overclocked Intel® Core™i5-4670k Quad Core (3.40GHz @ max 4.20GHz)
Motherboard
ASUS® Z87-K: ATX, USB2.0, USB3.0, SATA6GB/S, XFIRE
Memory (RAM)
16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P (2 x 8GB KIT)
Graphics Card
3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP - 3D Vision Ready

I take it the 780 graphics card is a bit overkill? In which case would there be any noticeable difference between the 2GB and 4GB GFX 770 cards?

8gb RAM will be fine and you may want to consider upgrading your warranty. If you using 1 or 2 monitors no need for e 4gb version of the gtx 770, the 2gb version will be fine.
