Is 24GB of RAM overkill? I'm guessing it probably is. But that's the problem, I have no idea what kind of specification it'll need and I don't want to purchase something that wont last me for a decent amount of time.

This PC will be for gaming at the highest settings with all the fancy bits on. It'll also need to handle Flash games at high quality without lagging behind. I'm also programming in PHP too, so it'll need to handle the software I work with, which should be easy as this PC handles it fine (and it's an awful machine).

I'm going to purchase Skyrim when it comes out later this year and would be most pleased with a system that could pump it out at full settings. If someone could advise me on a set up that should be able to play the way I'd like, I would be very grateful :]

Thanks in advance!

Okay, so, I'll have the 12GB Kingston RAM (because they don't have 8GB and 6GB might be a tad too low) and the Corsair 650W Enthusiast series instead.

Also, is 2TB of storage excessive? I do enjoy my music.

I'm not sure what my budget is at the moment. Is the 'Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Processor i7-960 (3.20GHz) 4.8GTs/8MB Cache' not a sufficient CPU? I've heard about Sandy Bridge CPU but I don't know enough about the components to identify models. I was under the assumption that the i7 was a Sandy Bridge model... Shows what I know about computers! :p

Okay, a few more questions:

1) What is the difference between the 8GB Samsung RAM and the 8GB Kingston RAM? They seem to have different frequencies?

2) Why the 1.5GB Graphics card and not the 3GB? Considering there is a £43 difference for double the power, is it not worth that little bit extra?

3) I presume from what I have read that 'K' in relation to CPU is ready to over clock? So that's not necessary for me. Is the i5 2500 sufficiently powerful? Is there not enough difference to warrant getting the i7 2600 instead?

4) Why would I want/need a SSD? I'm not familiar with the benefits of a Solid State Disk.

Anyway, with the recommendations above I've come up with:

looks much better
1, is just a bit faster but not much at all with out being oc but same price so i don't see why not to get it
2, its not double the power
3, im getting a i5 and from what i looked up it seems to be very good and only a bit slower then a i7 but still very fast and much better value
4. is just a small high priced hard drive what is faster then normal hardrives

I don't understand how Graphics Cards work, so I assumed that 3GB would be very, very powerful. I don't plan on running games on super huge TVs and the 22 inch HD monitor will probably be the one I continue to use.

Could someone explain why I shouldn't purchase the 3GB one over the 1.5GB? Bare in mind I want something future-proofed so I don't have to continually upgrade it all the time.

Well, I assumed the SSD would be better performance than a standard HDD, but is there any reason to own one? What would I store on it? It's only 20GB so that might be two-three games.

the 3gb is for using 2-3 monitors so if your just using one then is just a waste of 43 pounds, the 20gb ssd would have your os on it

Okay then :] What is the maximum resolution the 1.5GB 580 would support? Just in case I decide to hook it up to my 46 inch TV?

Would the OS be installed on the SSD by pcspecialist by default or something I'd have to request? I'm assuming by default considering the SSD option is labelled as 1st HDD.

i would think by default but not 100% sure did not order one with mine and my pc has yet to come, no clue about the tv
