My problem is for some reason it is struggling to run my video editing software.
Ive bought pinnacle studio 24 ultimate edition and it ran okayish to start but now its just struggling with anything i try. ive done reinstalls and stuff but its just getting worse, it now is refusing to load the multicam option even with only 3 cameras.
Is there anything i can do?
i have 3 options.
1) buy a more powerful pc and hope it runs it okay
2) try a new software like premiere pro to see if that runs better on my spec
3) get a software expert to have a look and see if i', setup right?

Any advice would be appreciated as i feel gutted after buying an i5 that it doesnt seem up to the job yet technical seems to say it should handle it reasonably well.

Can't help, but so the experts can help diagnose your issue, you may want to provide the full info on your build...

Looking at the spec (and the full spec from the order would be a great help) the weak link there is the HDD. They do slow down over time as data becomes fragmented.

If the video editing software writes many temp files out to disk then that HDD will be a big drawback.

Intially I would look at an M.2 NVMe SSD for Windows and programs (and scratch files for the video app) and use the HDD just for data.

ive only had the pc since February. would it slow down in that time?

It could do, it depends how often files are updated and how often new files are written. A cleanup and defrag will help but an SSD is really a must have these days, and the faster the better.

I'd also suggest (if you haven't already been advised to) turning off/removing Bullguard, as it has been known to cause problems.

The built-in Windows Security is good enough for most people.

Hi Derek, have you tried to reach out to the guys on the pinnacle forum, also do you know what patch you're running as there are some problems on some machines with the latest patch

Not been on the pinnacle forums yet but contacted pinnacle themselves afew times now and everytime they tell me to go through the remove and reinstall which has little or no effect on the problem, not sure what you mean by patch as i am a total newbie with computers.

All software gets updates which are called patches. If you go into help/about in the menu it will tell you which version it’s on.

Installing a primary SSD and likely doubling RAM would be a worthwhile investment in the long term on that PC though, it’s very low specs for what you’re using it for.

Come on over to the pinnacle forum where i linked, they are a great set of guys over there, I've worked them for many a year, we can then go through the best way to try things out and some of the best settings to go through in the control panel.

I've used PS since version 7, with only a couple of versions missed out, if you come over there I'm kiteflyer over there

Ok if in PS24 you click on the ? on the menu bar then about you'll get a popup look in the bottom left hand corner and it will give a version number as in these screen shots

Will check the version number later on today. joined the forum and someone has suggested resetting my software. might be easier than deleting and reinstalling if it works. Thanks for all the help so far, really dont want to learn a new software package and so far ive enjoyed using pinnacle apart from the problems.
