PCI Express 3.0 Motherboards

Now that Asus have released PCI Express 3.0 Motherboards for future Ivy Bridge upgrades, are there any plans by PC Specialist to start selling these over the 3.0 revisions?

Sorry to reboot this question, but is there any update on the situation. Due to the floods and the potential increase in Hard Drive prices I want to know if we will see PCI Express 3.0 compatible motherboards before Christmas, otherwise I may as well order within the next week.

Double the bandwidth. Ideal for shelf life and upgrade capability, if I was to upgrade to Ivy Bridge, I could use pretty much the same computer for longer, upgrading to the next couple of generations of GPU.

oh i get ya, so say when the new line of gpu's come out would they be only 3.0 compatible ?

they would probably have PCI-e and PCI-ee ports and remove the original PCI's i didnt think theyd be here for christmas i may consider getting one because i imagine the next line of graphics card will be 3.0 then they wont need dual slots

No, they will be backwards compatible. However to get the full bandwidth you need PCI Express 3.0, of course it might not be needed to the second generation of PCI Express 3,0 cards as the first generation may not saturate the bandwidth but certain games like Flight Sims usually do.

Of course you shouldn't worry, if you used a modern PCI Express 2.0 card in a PCI Express 1.0 slot the average drop in FPS may be at most 5-10% for most games (see Toms Hardware analysis), maybe more on certain games and much more on dual card configuration but still not much. I would just rather keep that 5% if I could.

So hopefully PCS will be stocking them soon but if not, no big deal.

Well my money came in today, so I am all set for choosing. I am probably going to just get by on a single GPU.

An interesting point was made to me today in light of this. All ASUS non-sli boards will offer PCI-Express 3.0 full bandwidth with Ivy Bridge as this is how the CPU works :D, whilst others (those seeking dual GPU's) as I had should wait for the GEN3 motherboards. So in this case the ASUS® P8Z68-V LX should in theory provide 1xPCIE3.0 when you drop in an Ivy Bridge CPU. Asus seems to confirm this http://event.asus.com/2011/mb/PCIe3_Ready/

I would preferably like confirmation by either PCS or you guys. If that is true however, I am going to go the single GPU root, spec up and purchase the thing probably by the end of this week (Friday).

What do you guys think?
