PC USB error now not working

Could someone help me with an issue that has just developed in my PC.
I Ordered the PC in June of this year based on a spec that was advised on here.
Today PC started as normal and the kids were on steam playing a game, they plugged in controllers via USB and they wouldn't work, so they decided to use a drawing tablet and plugged that in via USB and that wouldn't work either, so they restarted the computer. But it wouldn't restart properly and displayed an error screen re the USB ports. the only things connected by USB at this point was an external hard drive and a USB for a wireless mouse and keyboard, and the error screen said it would shut down in 15 seconds.
It did shut down and now it won't even turn on.
Anybody advise?
I took delivery of it on 28th July so it's barely 5 months old. I have the 3 Year Silver Warranty (1 Year Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour) Do I need to contact PC specialist direct and return it to be fixed?
I'm sure you're all very busy so Thank you so much to anyone who could offer any help or advice.

As a start it would be good to understand what the full build is, can you post the link to that please.

was the error - USB device over current status detected. System will shut down after 15 seconds?

Also, it’s worth going back to basics, have you a wired USB keyboard and mouse (something everyone should have imho).

If not, can you unplug all usb devices including your usb dongle for keyboard and mouse, then reboot the pc.

You should have a warning that no keyboard plugged in, just ignore it for now.

Does the screen go to windows login screen without error other than no keyboard?

just leave it running, any other errors pop up, does it still shut down?

next plug in dongle, I doubt your keyboard will be picked up, however if it is try logging in, if not (which is likely), then just reboot the PC.

with just the dongle plugged in do you get a warning about shut down?

as a starting point, I would use a torch and check all your USB ports for any damage (shorting out pins for example).

if you do not get a warning, try using a USB stick with a basic word doc or jpg on and try copying to and from each usb with the usb stick and PC, that will not only check usb is working but also data is flowing.

Its also worth seeing if you can get in to Bios and looking to see if your USB ports are all shown, just look dont fiddle.

Thank you.

Have posted build specs on original post.

Yes, that may have been the error but as the PC will not turn on at all now I can't be certain of what it said exactly.

I already tried disconnecting everything
But with PC will not turning on at all now, I can not do any of the other things you have suggested either.

Ah missed that bit about not turning on, yes that’s looking like a PCS call and return.

Have you tried another kettle lead?

is it completely dead, no fans turning, no motherboard beeps or leds ?

I would still have a look at each USB with a torch.

Then yes dead will be a PCS call and return.

I haven't tried a different lead. I think I've an old one somewhere.
Looks completely dead to me. Nothing happens when it's plugged in, No lights or anything, doesn't do anything when power button is pushed. 😭
I've filled in a return online now,
Thanks.

Even with the computer powered down, that motherboard should still have some lights on (from the ethernet port if a cable is plugged in, maybe one or two other lights on the board)..if there is absolutely nothing on there, then I would suggest the PSU has gone. Unfortunately, the TxM PSUs haven't had the best year of it....my PC bought in January tripped my main breaker when the TxM PSU went. If you give PCS a call and they agree with it's the PSU, if you are confident doing it, they can send out a replacement PSU for you to fit (would save a near month long RMA process)
Thank you, No there's nothing lit at all. 😣
Would that be difficult to replace?
I'm not that confident replacing parts TBH, beyond putting in extra memory in previous PC I've not really done much.
I was looking to buy another PC with the same build as I had been very pleased with it until now. Would you recommend a different psu in the new build?
Was looking to spend roughly the same with the same RAM, GPU AND CPU, but obviously worried if parts can fail when it's still relatively new.
Thanks.

Thanks. I'll price up with that psu. I've two kids that are home educated and a business to run so really need a good working PC. We were struggling with just the one, hence looking to buy another.

I've tried a different power lead and still nothing. 😞

Oh thanks, bit worried about unplugging all those cables though, so I think I'll just have to send it back. I would rather they fitted it and checked it properly.
If I paid the difference in cost between the Current psu (the CORSAIR 550W TXm SERIES™ SEMI-MODULAR 80 PLUS® GOLD, ULTRA QUIET) and the corsair 750w rmx modular 80 plus would they put one of them in?
Is the USB error that came up a result of the PSU failure or the cause?
Again worried that this might have happen again in the future and wondering if I order another if I should be changing something else, apart from upgrading the PSU?
thank you to you all for all your help! 👍
I thought buying brand new from PCS would avoid these type of problems.

I'm sure they would but you'd have to ask them, nobody on here will be able to give you a definitive answer.

I would guess (and that's all it is) that the USB failure is a symptom rather than the cause. It's possible that the PSU was waiting to fail and the extra load of the USB devices just pushed it over the edge.

Stuff breaks unfortunately, and usually at the most inconvenient time (someone could earn a PhD working out how it knows!). If there was any way for PCS to predict whether components were likely to fail early they'd be doing it. :)

OK thanks. Was just worried I had the wrong type of USB ports or had done something wrong. I don't know a lot about PC's and obviously don't want this happening again.

Yes, I get that stuff breaks, just disappointed it has broken already and as you say it's a very inconvenient time. Kids have games for Xmas and they're desperate to play and now can't.
Thanks. 😊
