Palit GTX570 issue

Hey guys, posting back for the first time in a year since getting my pc.

Just come across a recent issue with my GPU. When one of the fans on the GPU starts going, the fan starts to make a really irritating loud rattling noise as seen here

Any ideas, is the card knackered? Its a year old and hasnt been overclocked at all. It came as part of my PC Specialist build and has worked fine up to now...

Sounds like something is vibrating. Try taking the card out, cleaning it and then re-seating it in the slot. Make sure there aren't any wires resting on the card itself as this could cause vibrating. If the sound is still there after that then it could be something to do with the bearings in the fan itself and I would call PCS if this is the case.

Thanks for the quick reply, Ive taken the card out and given it a de dust and resat it back into the slot but it still makes the noise.. No wires or anything on the card either.

Really gutted about this as the PC has been superb since I received it.

I tried to contact PCS but not able to get through so I will email them and see if there is anything they can do. If not, looks like time for an expensive upgrade/replacement...

The GTX 760 2GB looks interesting at £185

hmm, yeah like TheGeeza says give the card a good clean. With some compressed air if possible.

Are you still in warranty? I'm presuming not as its an old card. But either way worth ringing up PCS for some advice, if the issue is still present after a clean.

Ah ok, I will look into compressed air cleaning. If it comes to the case of a replacement, what would be the best choice under £200?

Try calling PCS again on monday and see if they can sort out your current card. However should you need to upgrade I would look at something like an R9 270x or GTX 760. Good value for money at the moment and for under £200 you can get one with a good aftermarket cooler.

Replacement wise, if you could stretch to £240 you may be able to get your hands on a GTX 770. For Less than 200 I'd say a 760. Although you could go for an AMD card, but I have no idea how they compare to NV at the moment.
You could check ebay, sometimes you can find brand new cards for fairly decent prices, I've had both my 680's off ebay for cheap
Can of compressed air might do the trick, might be some dust bunnies having a party in there...

Just been looking on scan at the 770s and sure enough as Tom said for an extra £50 you can buy a 770. One with a good cooler too. If I were you I would try and spend that bit extra. You won't be dissapointed either way.

Ah ok, sounds good to me! Can you possibly recommend one which has the best cooler? Im struggling to tell which one has the best cooling capabilities...

Narrowed my choices down to either a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 760 WindForce 3X or a EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Superclocked ACX

Both a similar price at 200 and check a few benchmarks and cannot seem to decide on which one wins...

Which is the better manufacturer?

If your current card is knackered then I would go for EVGA. They have a 3 year warranty and excellent customer support. The ACX cooler is also one of the best non reference coolers I have seen. Where are you buying it from?

Either scan or ccl computers... Had good experience with both companies so which ever is in stock.

Think the Evga is the best choice as the gigabyte card is quite long compared to the Evga so I want to make sure it fits in my inwin fanqua case.
