Ordered this for gaming and UNI (3D Programs/Photoshop)

Hello. I think this is a good choice for gaming but will it be able to smoothly run demanding programs such as Maya and other rendering programs that I use for UNI? I am referring to the fact that it doesn't have a SSD and the RAM memory is 8GB. Anyway, my only real regret is that I haven't opted for the other Matte screen (85 pounds). What do you think?

Already ordered. But besides the screen upgrade which is less probable and possible, I am thinking to get an SSD in the future and 8 more GB of RAM as there are free slots for both these upgrades as I understood. The reason why I opted for the fast track dispatch is because my old laptop broke down 2 days ago, exactly before I was ready to order the new one. I went to sleep, dreaming of my new laptop, woke up in the morning to order it, powered up the laptop and after a few seconds there was a "Click" noise and it rebooted itself a few times with no success. After I listened closely I realized it was from the HDD and that it wouldn't boot. Ordered a new one, with next day delivery, installed it myself, everything was ok, installed windows, programs etc. After around two hours, it turned off by itself and the same thing would occur: start-click noise after 3 seconds-stop-reboot automatically but with no success. :| This happened today... Uni starts on Monday and I need a pc.. And i Don't know what to do with this one further..but to take it for diagnostics which will cost me another 50 pounds besides the other 50 I spent for the new HDD which can be "dead" too after today....

(In response to your pm as well!) I would test to see if it is the HDDs that are faulty. The way to do this would be to load something like slax or puppy linux onto a usb or infact any linux distro, maybe gparted. Then you can have a look to see if your drives are working. We need to see if it is the HDDs that are causing the problems or not! If they aren't faulty, you might be able to edit your order and just get an sSD then put the working HDD into the new laptop. If they are faulty, try sending the HDD back to where you bought it from, could be a faulty drive. I hope this helps you!

yes it does. The old HDD must surely have died (or at least that's what I thought in the beginning because I had the same problem a few years back with a desktop HDD which wouldn't boot up. There would be a "Crack" noise and then it would attempt again and again to boot). But after I got this new HDD for my laptop today, I am thinking it is very unlikely for the second one to be broken/damaged from factory, as I was able to install windows and everything else on it for a few hours then it would just do the same thing: click and not boot. So I am thinking maybe there is another problem with my laptop: motherboard, or power or something that is causing it to crash and burn the HDDs I throw at it. The best case scenario would be that none of these 2 HDDs are dead and that a cable or electric component that makes the connection between the HDD and MB is faulty inside and needs to be changed. The worst case scenario is that both of them are dead and I won't get a refund or exchange for the second one because it died because of what my laptop could have possibly done to it. And the acceptable scenario would be the unlikely situation where the second HDD (new one) happened to just die after 2 hours and I would get a replacement and everything will be fine which I doubt :(

Do you have another system you can check those HDDs on?
