Optimus VII 15.6" Overheating [w/ OCCT results]

So I've had this laptop for two and a half years now. (Phew.)

It has its ups and downs... this might be one of the downs. It's overheating. I undervolted this laptop using Throttlestop. With the i7-6700HQ, it can be quite a lot. I got a stable -160.2mV and stable -102.5mV in CPU cache to be exact. Next up I enabled Intel's Speed Shift (SST), the successor to Speed Step. That helped with cooling a bit. Nevertheless they all failed within minutes. I have done multiple tests in multiple scenarios:

1). Imgur Link (Lasted 3m 15s before OCCT aborted)
Undervolt - YES
SST - ON
Full Fans (Fn+1) - OFF

2). Imgur Link (Lasted 23s before OCCT aborted)
Undervolt - YES
SST - OFF
Full Fans (Fn+1) - ON

3). Imgur Link (Lasted 13s before OCCT aborted)
Undervolt - NO
SST - OFF
Full Fans (Fn+1) - ON

4). Imgur Link (Lasted 1m 38s before OCCT aborted)
Undervolt - NO
SST - ON
Full Fans (Fn+1) - ON

I usually idle at around 55C with undervolting and SST. With no undervolting, and SST or not, idle temp is at 60-65C (Balanced Power Plan). Needless to say when gaming this reaches 90C easily. I was playing Rise of the Tomb Raider for about an hour and the fans were spinning at maximum and temps up to 95C.

OCCT max set at 85C.
The paste is MX-4, or I hope it is. Ordered through PCS.
Laptop cooler already in place.

I clean it regularly and every time I've opened it up I see no dust but I blew on it anyway. :/
The only thing I haven't done is a repaste (and the laptop never got a repaste since bought), but the N150RD doesn't really have teardown instructions. I was even thinking of repasting it with liquid metal, and this still holds as an option. I have built a PC, repasted a laptop and did a phone complete teardown before. I might not have much experience but I'd say I can handle a repaste and sending this laptop in is not possible (unless absolutely necessary) as I'm quite busy this time of year. It's out of warranty anyway.

I know OCCT is the worse case scenario and not a real use case, but 55C idle with undervolting and SST is not normal. When I first got the laptop I remember it held a steady 91C on FurMark test (yes I know it's GPU). Unless I'm wrong and this is not overheating at all? Can I have some opinions on this?

91 degrees C on the GPU, if that's what you were referring to, is overheating significantly.

Just did another FurMark, this time with a laptop cooler stand. 1920x1440 0xMSAA and maxes out at 86C. Imgur Link.

If it is overheating then what options do I have? The only thing I can think of is a repaste. Is there any other test I can do to check whether it's actually overheating?

Common benchmarks for gaming are Firestrike and Unigine Valley, you can see what the temps are in those. Furmark and OCCT are both exceptionally brutal tests from what I've seen.

Although 86 degrees is apparently within limits for the GPU, it a lot hotter than I'd be comfortable with.

If the fan profiles are working properly (i.e. the fans aren't idling while the laptop roasts), then I'd suggest a repaste.

Ran a Unigine Valley benchmark, auto settings (1080p - High - 0xMSAA) and the temps went as far as 88C. This is without using a laptop cooling stand but I'm in a colder environment right now.

Do you happen to have a guide on how to disassemble an N150RD or a similar model? I'm having a hard time finding a guide as I really don't want to mess up my laptop.

I contaced PCS about my overheating laptop and told them I had used Furmark and they replied that it wasn't meant for laptops and that I shouldn'y use it. Just FYI.

Other than googling for service manuals http://www.e-weekly.co.uk/download/RnD/DRIVERS/CLEVO/N150RD/ESM.pdf and teardown videos on youtube I don't know.

Good to see PCS really getting to the heart of the matter.. :/

Plus a 960M at 88 degrees on unigine valley is probably a bit much
