I received my Optimus V from PCSpecialist a little over a year ago and recently I have been experiencing extremely high temperatures with speccy recording up to 84°C on the NVidia GTX765M and up to 103° on the i7.

I was wondering what possible solutions there could be to this issue and if others had experienced it as well.

What type of surface is the laptop on? It needs to be a flat surface, ideally a desk - and never your lap, bed, or on a soft surface - and with plenty of room for air to flow around it. Air is sucked in through the bottom and blown out the side, so there has to be a good airflow underneath. If you don't have a laptop cooling pad with a fan then get one. At the very least elevate the back on the laptop half and inch or so to get plenty of air in.

Have you cleaned it recently? After a year there will probably be quite a build-up of dust and muck covering the fan blades, the finned heat exchanger (radiator) right next to the fan, and probably in the vent holes too. Buy a can of compressed air for cleaning computers (all decent computer stores will stock it) and a soft brush, open up as much of the back of the case as you can and use the compressed air and the brush to tease the dust and muck off the fan blades, heat exchanger, and vent holes. Pay particular attention to the finned heat exchanger, this needs to be completely free of dust so air can circulate through it and it's also very effective at trapping dust and muck. Now would be a good time to give the whole inside a good clean, so get all the dust and muck that you can see out of the inside.
