Optimus Series: 13.3" Win10 reinstall black screen with cursor

Upgraded to windows 10 on release day but kept files, decided to reinstall and remove all files and once the "lets start" message appeared, a black screen with cursor support appeared, left overnight and nothing, restarted and the same. Changed every single bios option in the very limited bios with no hope. Online people talk about this problem with having 2 GPU drivers, which they say causes issues and black screens but in the position i am in, there is no way to disable either. Tried launching advanced recovery options including reinstalling again, but the same problem occurs... any help or ideas? Or am I going for my fifth RMA, this time for a non faulty computer.

i had the same issue. apparently it's something to do with win10 having issues with multiple monitors (which don't exist...that's why you're not seeing them)...that's what i've been told. you should be able to check the task manager and other power tools from keyboard shortcuts. also i remember that the upgrade did not install the ACTUAL display drivers. instead it had generic drivers for both my integrated and discreet processor. it sorted itself out on mine after messing with stuff in task manager...dunno how but it did.

frankly i'm staying with win7. at least until the drivers for my model arrive. even after fixing the black screen there were still issues. if it works check your device manager.

Yeah Ive seen some things online about that but apparently im the only person with this problem whom cant open task manager, tried all shortcuts i know and nothing happens... So annoying, ive tried every single option i have in my options and nothing works... I would like to see what PCS would do other than replacing HDD.

I have not had this problem (or any other really) but you might like to have a look at some of these threads from the insider forum.

Thanks for the ideas, pretty sure i checked every one of those beforehand with no success but in the end I went and bought a 16GB usb drive, (lost the one i got from PCS) and reinstalled windows 8. fixed the problem! Shame id grown attached to win10 and kinda think win8 is awful! :D
