Optimus II screen won't wake up out of sleep mode

Hi there,
I think this is probably a windows problem rather than a hardware problem, but since you folk are rather knowledgeable around here I thought it was worth a post!
I've owned my Optimus II (see sig for specs) almost a year now. For the last month or so, every now and again, it won't wake up from sleep mode, whether I try the trackpad, the keyboard, the power button or my USB mouse. The only way to wake it up is force it off and restart it. Now whether it's just the monitor not waking up or whether something more serious is wrong, I don't know. When I did some googling and troubleshooting, I saw that the additional graphics card had been disabled by the device manager (error code 43). So I updated the graphics driver last night, but the problem happened again today.
It happens both plugged in and on battery, on all power management plans (I think. Will try to confirm this.)
Thanks for all replies in advance, all help is greatly appreciated. I'm not really that pro at the techy side of windows so please take it slowly and in as much plain English as possible!

I'm unsure why you would be having the above problems as I think it could be a range of issues.

An option in the short term would be to turn sleep mode off completely to avoid the issue occuring at all. To guide you through this visit the following website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Sleep-and-hibernation-frequently-asked-questions

Click on the 'How can I prevent my computer from automatically sleeping or hibernating' part and it will take you step my step through this.

If you do actually want the laptop to sleep correctly then I'm not 100% sure on the long term solution and hopefully someone better qualified than me can help you with that. The only situations I have seen this happen was with outdated drivers so may be worth making sure that all drivers are up to date not just the GPU ones.

I have disabled all auto sleep in the power management for now so I don't loose any data by having to force shut down. Although I would really love a solution to the problem as I'm a freelance designer and often carry my laptop around, relying on the battery, and therefore like to put it to sleep to save power. Thanks for your reply :D

Hopefully someone else with more knowledge can guide you further.

In my experience it is likely to be some form of a driver issue that is causing the problem. I would definately make sure that all drivers are up to date as sometimes the USB port drivers can cause these types of issues.

Might also be an idea to see whether there is any BIOS update for your laptop as well as these can solve alot of niggly problems.
