Hi everyone,
I'll start with a warning - I don't know an awful lot about upgrading hardware, especially in a laptop.
I am very attached to my Optimus II from October 2011 but I think it could do with a new lease of life. The HDD light is almost constantly on and general working speeds in Adobe CS6 have slowed down recently.
I am toying with the idea of replacing the HDD with a SSD but I have a couple of questions:
Is there room in the Optimus II chassis for a second hard drive? Could I have a SSD for OS and programmes and a normal HDD for data storage?
Secondly when I've been looking at replacing the HDD with a SSD myself it looks fairly easy to physically replace it but I have read things about updating/changing something in the BIOS and that scared me a little bit.
Also do I need to 'deactivate' Windows 7 at all to use the same licence on the new drive? I've never done it before, so sorry for the silly questions. I wondered because I have to deactivate Adobe CS whenever I need to use the licence key on a different machine.
Lastly I have read that SSDs have a finite read/write life. As a pretty intensive user would I wear out a SSD? That is the only thing that's putting me off buying this SSD.
Any advice would be much appreciated! Please use small words and talk slowly. :shaun:
Many thanks, Elise
