Wondering if someone could help with a laptop problem.

This started yesterday. I booted up the laptop and noticed it shut down. figured it must have done an update and not noticed so I booted it up again and it was ok. I then shut it down and returned a while later to start it up and noticed this time it made a pop sound about 3/4 seconds after booting up then just shut off. I then booted it up again and it was fine.

It has been doing this on and off after playing with it a bit today I've noticed that it will boot up "pop" sound shut off then boot up fine the next time or sometimes it will boot up just fine first time.

I've noticed it getting red hot on the right side over the speaker near the prt sc button thought it was the CPU fan and done this since I got the laptop. However after opening up the laptop it's where I installed the WD 7200rpm HD I bought from these guys as have my own SSD as main drive. it was hot so I wondered if it was that causing problems so I took it out and that didn't solve anything. I've also powered it up just the battery and it's done the same and I have also taken the battery out and run it of the power supply and it still does the same.

I've also booted the laptop up with the cover off and noticed that sometimes the CPU fan doesn't always kick in on boot up maybe about 2 seconds in then it starts up but there was no popping noise when it did this and there was also one time that windows booted right upto the desktop and the fan never started up so I shut it down quick..

I've also got a CPU temp monitor and it's fine CPU is running at around 40/43C idle

I am currently using windows 10 64 bit and the laptop is just over a year old.

I have contacted PS and doing a return to get it looked at "wish I had payed for the full warranty now instead of the Silver one.

That sounds like a hardware issue to me so contacting PCS for an RMA is the best option.

First of, the fans will not spin, if the temperatures is on an acceptable level. It will start spinning the fans when needed, so don't worry about the fans not spinning. Otherwise there can be a number of reasons for this issue, and as ubuysa has already mentioned, it might be a hardware issue.

I can take a closer look, if you wish. Normally I would ask for a HwInfo64 output, but that doesn't work properly for Windows 10 yet. So please download and install Aida64 extreme here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/aida64-download.html

When installed, open up the program and press the "report" button in the top left corner, to start the report wizard. Press Next -> Custom Selection and press next again. There's a few things we need to de-select here, to make sure this report doesn't contain private information. Go under "Network" and make sure Internet, IE Cookie and Browser History is not enabled. Then go under Software and make sure Licenses is not enabled. When that's done, press next -> Leave the report at "HTML" and press finish, to let it start gathering information. It will take a few minutes as it will benchmark your CPU/DIMMs and GPU. When it's done save the html file and upload it to a free filehosting service like dropbox, filedropper or something similar.
