Opinions on this spec

Hey everyone, I'm new to the world of gaming PCs having always been a console user.
I have a quote that id like to share with you, can you let me know if you think this will be suitable for general gaming use (no streaming), I'm looking for smooth performance and the best looking graphics I can.
No monitor yet, looking to maybe run through my TV?? suggestions for reasonably priced monitors to suit this build would also be great!
Price cap for the build would be 2k, cant really spend much more than that, this spec is £1600
I have attached the spec to this discussion, any advice or suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance

I would avoid that system. It's very old hardware selections. There are far better options but it's all going to come down to budget. Have a look through the below link and feed back with the main queries and we will get something sorted.

GPU prices are all over the place at the moment (i.e. too high) as the next gen cards are out in a few weeks. This will mean either 1) more performance at the same price with cards, or 2) cheaper last generation cards.

At a £2k price point, you're a little between a high-end 1080p build, or a low-end 1440p build...mainly down to the cost of the GPU yo support that resolution. We'd always suggest configuring the rest of the system very similarly anyway to allow for further GPU upgrades as your resolution / gaming choices progress.

Thank you Scott

What would you suggest changing or upgrading on this spec?

My absolute limit on budget is 2k, and id like to make it as future proof as possible.

Like I said, I will be gaming, but not streaming, I'm used to console, so an upgrade in performance from the Xbox series X would be ideal.

I also plan to run it through my 4k TV, would a monitor be better??

Any suggestions would be greatly received!

Unfortunately consoles don't really output decent 4k. Not what any PC gamer would consider decent at least. Even the PS5 Pro only runs 30fps on heavy titles. You would ideally want 100+ frames but a minimum of 60fps just to hit entry level expectation.

With that in mind the budget doesn't cover the sort of GPU you would want for this use.

The below is a high end 1080p system or an entry level 1440p system. Sure, it'll output 4k but you will need to have the settings more in line of a console experience..... which defeats the purpose really. It's one of those difficult positions where you're probably better to stick with the console as you're not going to get a better experience at 4k without another £500 thrown to the system.

Now, don't get the wrong. Below is a stonking PC, it has more performance than a console but not by that much due to the budget limitations on the GPU. You get a lot of bang for your buck with a console. The great thing with the below is that you could save up for a GPU upgrade next year and plug it straight in. Can't do that with a console :D

You will be worth holding off to see what happens over the next couple of weeks with GPU prices. The latest Nvidia top tier cards are due to release at the end of the month. There is often some sort of ripple effect on pricing :)

Thank you so much for your time!
Just out of interest, how much more budget would I need to support the GPU that you are suggesting?
I am aware that the new batch are due out soon, so I will hold off and see what happens, but I'm curious!
Thanks again!

Slightly better value with the AMD GPU, similar performance to the 4080. The Nvidia cards have a fair bit more bells and whistles though, they're a bit less hassle with the drivers so are often chosen over AMD. If you're not a fettler I would stick with Nvidia to be safe rather than sorry.

For bare minimum 4k I would want a 4070 Ti Super. This is more palatable and I would say is a sensible tier of card. As said though, the 5070 is on route so don't pull the trigger.
