For controlling a huge telescopes tragectory?
Yeah, that's it, was part of the original computer that controlled the Jodrell bank radio telescopeFor controlling a huge telescopes tragectory?
I wonder how accurate it was, must have been pretty close. That's pretty complex really.Yeah, that's it, was part of the original computer that controlled the Jodrell bank radio telescope
Well it was accurate enough to track the ballistic missile that put sputnic into spaceI wonder how accurate it was, must have been pretty close. That's pretty complex really.
That's quite remarkable, when you think that computing at a mainframe level wasn't really a thing until mid 60's, what they've achieved there is nothing short of miraculous.Well it was accurate enough to track the ballistic missile that put sputnic into space
yeah, when you look back at the early days of the radio telescope project there, they were cobbling together things from chicken wire and old searchlights, the gears that control the tilt of the Lovell telescope, started off life in some gun turrets of a battle ship.........That's quite remarkable, when you think that computing at a mainframe level wasn't really a thing until mid 60's, what they've achieved there is nothing short of miraculous.
