folks,

no doubt pcspecialist are busy but the laptop i ordered is now taking too long (it was needed by this Friday, ordered started 8th April) so i am cancelling it and just going for a pre-built lappy from a local supplier.

I have sent 3 emails, made various calls (on hold for ages and gave up) and still nothing.

Has anybody actually spoke to or heard from anybody at PCspecialist in the last week?

really ? that doesn't sound like the PCS i know.
have you had any emails from them about progress or changes in status ? might be obvious but just incase - they haven't gone into spam or junk have they ? I'm sure you would have been sent an email should a part be out of stock for example....

I'm sure the wait would be worth it but that said if you do end up going local make sure the spec can match up to PCS and you're getting the same bang for the buck.

I think the regulars on this forum are too willing to bum PCS with compliments and positive preconceptions. Whether it's justified or not, let's not forget that PCS is still a company that can perform well or badly.

That being said it's still great.

Sorry about your experience. That's one thing Dell beats PCS on: arrival time.

I am just wondering if weekends and bank holidays have been considered in this process.

By my count you have only just hit the 12th WORKING day (Correct me if I am wrong) - That is only 1day over the ESTIMATED lead time.
As mentioned before, have you received any updates, what is your current order status? Pre-Production, Building, Testing....?

You say you have rung and been left waiting ages, I have never been waiting more than 1minute. Did you check the estimated call waiting times before you rang? http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/call-waiting/ and did you ring at the usual busy times of first thing in the morning or lunch time..

You have not really given enough information on the current status of your order to justify the argument. And saying you will cancel will not improve things.

Also need I remind you that the forums are not the official channel for support and therefore you may or may not get a official reply to your issue.

I appreciate the feedback folks. I have no doubt pcspecialists are great it's just the laptop was needed by the weekend as i am away for 6 weeks! I thought they would be able to build it in time but unfortunatly not. I thought 2 weeks would be fine.

As for the emails i left the first was thursday last week and still no reply. I hope i get to speak to somebody before friday.....or at least have a mail responded too by then.

Toon. I've highlighted it to Jack in PCS. No idea if it will help, but hopefully :(

It's a hard one. If you had advised me yesterday of this, I may of been able to assist a little more.

I hav to ask, if this was a deadline day, why didn;t you pay for the express service. If so critical, £30 is really nothing in the bigger picture and it would have assured you the delivery time before Friday.....especially based on all the bank holidays this month?

The reason i did'nt ask for express was simply i thought 3 weeks from ordering would be plenty time with a 7-9 day lead. My Bag i suppose :whistling:

in fairness mate, it is an estimate?

I'm not defending PCS purely cause i had a dream order, delivery and no problems bar one little conflict with the old OCZ SSD's.....but if it is that important, why would you risk it?

Anyhows, more to the point, where are you heading off to? Maybe PCS can deliver it there for you :) No reason why you can't change the deliver address.

Pez, i would have possibly sorted something out if my email from last week i sent had been answered by pcspecialist.

If they had simply replied to it i would have re-arranged some things and delayed my leaving a few days. It's more the fact that the emails' are not being replied to is annoying me. I would still love the laptop i ordered but such is life i suppose.........still we have a royal wedding to look forward too!!

Ok, there are many threads on the forum explaining how the process works from ordering to dispatch in great detail. But, please remember you are ordering a made to order item, and the lead times given are approximate and not guaranteed. They are a guideline giving an approximate idea of when you may receive the item. The only cast iron guarantee is as stated in the t's and c's which is 'in any event we will deliver your order within 30 days'. In the vast, vast majority of cases the pc / laptops are delivered in and around this lead time. The lead time we display is an actual average of all dispatches over the past two months.
Given all of the above do not think we have done you a dis-service if your order goes above this APPROXIMATE lead time. We will of course try and help in cases where an order is urgently required and we also offer the fast track service for such an occasion. However, please remember, when you order, you have basically agreed that you are happy for your pc to be built within 30 days, and accept that the lead time shown is only approximate as it states.
Now with regard to emails and communication. Just like other businesses, we have been impacted by the double whammy bank holidays. All emails received from Thursday afternoon last week, including Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, are being worked through, as well as the normal tasks of answering the phones etc. This is many hundreds of emails, and unfortunately there is a backlog, and it will take some time to work through them. We then get another double whammy this weekend so will get an even bigger backlog, which will get worked through but it will take time.
However I am surprised that you have not been able to get through on the phones. Yes they have been steadily busy and it may take a few minutes to get through. The average wait today for instance was just over 3 minutes. Too high, but not a disaster. We also have the system in place where you can see how busy the lines are in real time and call when the phones are quiet. If you urgently needed to contact us today, it was certainly do-able over the phone or on live chat which is also permanently manned during the day.

So that was the emails phones etc. The next is production, which will again be impacted by having 4 bank holidays in two weeks, and also very strong sales. The team have been working overtime every week since Christmas and we will continue to do so after the bank holiday period. But it may mean a slight blip in delivery times while we catch up. I understand it is a frustrating time while you eagerly await your new pc, but at the end of the day we will not rush your pc / laptop or anyone else’s. The most important thing to remember is that the lead time is a guide not a guarantee.

Toon....see :)

There is love (Unlike the Barcelona/Real Madrid game just played!)

Maestro will sort it all out for you. And to be honest, I'd be inclined to offer the £30 to make sure the order arrives for Wednesday next week. Make gorman and Jak work for the weekend just for a laugh :D They're only going to be sitting there with their union jacks for the Friday waving them whilst watching the wedding :D LMFAO
