ordering a new laptop soon and need some help
i have a budget of 1700€ and im gonna use it for gaming mainly

Any suggestions for the build, expecially m.2 wise?
anybody knows the material of this chassis and the motherboard model?

The M.2 drive you've selected seems fine.

Have you considered the Defiance rather than the Octane? Since it's much cheaper: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/defianceIII-15/

If sticking with the Octane I would probably go for the i5 6600 just as it's upto 300MHz faster if you can squeeze that into your budget: http://ark.intel.com/compare/88184,88188

The motherboard is an HM170 Express Chipset, and I guess is by Clevo. It's not like desktop PCs where the motherboard will be an Asus Z170-A etc. If you want details on the chassis you can get the Clevo model numbers on this page: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/laptop-computers/clevo-laptops/40/ and look up the model on the clevo website.

Defiance III 15.6" is Clevo P650RS-G
Octane III 15.6" is Clevo P751DM2-G

thanks for the answer
i have asked about the warranty, collect and return works in europe even if there isnt much about it in https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/terms/ and i have already pointed that out to PCS but they assure is covered even in italy.
the dead pixel is UK only for sure, since im moving to scotlan in november it should not be a problem.
the defiance3 is 100€ cheaper with an i7 6700 but i think the cooling system of the octane is way better plus there is space for an extra harddisk, correct me if im wrong.
ive tried to find details of the chassis material but even on clevo web site does not say. online somebody says is alluminium, some polycarbonate, kind of confusing.

? The Defiance III is £200 cheaper with a 6700HQ vs a 6700 (non-k)

Don't get me wrong, if you like the Octane more then it's your money, go ahead. But it is a lot more expensive.




I'm afraid I can't advise about the chassis material.

If you're worried about cooling and you have the money, I would recommend swapping the i5 6500 for an i5 6600k. The 6600k is unlocked so you can undervolt it. The stock voltages are set unnecessarily high which produces unneeded heat. You can easily shave of 5+ degrees from your max temps.

But what do you plan to use the laptop for? The reason the Octane is more expensive is because it uses a desktop grade CPU. If you couple that with a GTX1060 your GPU will be the limiting factor during gaming. If you don't plan to do highly CPU taxing activities (in which case, you should really get an i7 for hyperthreading) it is probably worth it to get a Defiance with a GTX1070 instead. That's a lot more future proof gaming wise.
