Hi

I'm thinking of purchasing Octane IV and got couple question hoping someone can answer:

Is the IPS Panel 120HZ Gsync?

What are the CPU and GPU temperature? From what i understand the i7-8700K can run hot unless it is delid etc.

Thanks

Which model of Octane are you talking about, and which panel? PCS don't specify the 1080p panel is IPS. And the 4k Panel which is IPS doesn't have gsync and isn't 120hz (there aren't any 4k 120hz panels freely available atm afaik).

As for the temps, they should be fine - though undervolting has been quite popular due to full fat desktop CPUs running quite warm in a laptop chassis sometimes.

What will you be using the laptop for out of interest?

You might also want to try phoning PCS. The forums are mostly for the customer community, so phoning PCS or livechat or whatever is probably a better bet for specific advice about the specs of their components :)

I am interested in the same 17.3" chassis. I have been in touch with Andrew over live chat and he advised finding out about temperatures in the 775TM chassis from the customers here. I will be running usual gaming loads (mostly Witcher 3 and Dragon Age), Photoshop, Premier, and some of my research programmes. I don't want to cook the 8700K with temperatures consistently in North of 90C.

PS: I have had the older P870KM1 from another reseller who offered delidd as an extra option and that did result in reigning in the temperatures. I could never get that 7700K over 75C. I will see if PCS will oblige any such requests.

On the Octane IV detailed specification page it list the following - just wondering if its G-Sync. Spoke to PCS via chat and the person said its not G-Sync.....

Any updates on this? Im not as fussed on the g sync as my rig is going to be used primarily for audio production but the temps are important for me. The idea of having an 8700k in a transportable laptop is like a dream come true. But im starting to think it might just be too hot to be a viable system that last me a while. Especially when im discovering multi core enhancement that comes in asus motherboards etc i cant imagine its possible to keep it cool in a laptoo environment with the same performance. How well do external laptop coolers work?
