Hi guys I still havent decided what monitors im going to be being yet :/ but if i buy the 4 asus vn247h monitors, can I connect the 3 im going to be using in nvidia surround, with hdmi cables since there is no dvi port on the monitors?
if so I will just go and buy some premium hdmi cables, maybe some QED ones thanks.

also if I dont respond right away apologies but im going to bed :)

I dont think you can really unless you get DVI-HDMI converters as there wont be enough (or any) HDMI ports on the graphics cards (assuming you were going for 680/690/titans)

I don't actually know if DVI-HDMI converters work for surround but I would guess they do?

DVI-HDMI converters work fine for NVIDIA Surround. In fact I'd recommend this unless you need sound on the monitor or are using a full 2560 etc res on each monitor.
You can mix and match hdmi and dvi if you wish.

was just browsing amazon this morning and found this neat looking cable - http://www.amazon.co.uk/BlueRigger-...29?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1364173159&sr=1-29 - does anyone know if this will work with a triple monitor surround giving me the full 5760 x 1080p and 60hz? this will be a lot easier than dvi - hdmi converts and then buying dvi cables - also is the dvi end of the cable duel link dvi? thanks all dont want to be a pain just wanted to ask to be safe.
That looks a very good cable for the price .It seems to be a DVI-D dual link connection as the description states "HDMI A Male to DVI 24+1",but the max resolution will depend on the HDMI connection as well.

I used to use a couple of Hanns -G 28" monitors for surround...they use DVI-HDMI cables or some such concoction.

All you need to worry about with Nvidia surround is:
Your 3 monitors must be exactly the same make, model, resolution, refresh rate, colour, shape, size, sex.
The connections must be similar in type. HDMI and DVI are very similar in the way they work technically. VGA, Display port and other variations are not similar.

This is assuming you are only going for 2d surround....3d is a little more strict on the connections.

2d surround for now was thinking of maybe going for 3d surround later on to try it out, if I get the 4 benq monitors that is. but either way thanks for the info, makes my decision a little easier.

If you're going to try 3d/ 120hz you're going to need 3 cards. 2d surround works fine on a pair of 2GB 560's or better.

It's not so much the processing power, but the shear memory thru-put. I've tried quite a few different scenarios over the years and recommend you use 3 cards for 3d surround. Even if it means dropping down a gpu grade to ensure you can afford them. (Remember only the top two or three in the range allow 3-way sli).

I am running 3d surround with 2 x gtx 680, I am fine with games like Battlefield 3, Crysis 2 and all ACs. I assume for crysis 3 I may need to lower the video settings.

Just out of curiosity, what FOV are you using in surround?

well if what keynes says is true he is only using 2gb 680s and im going to be buying 4gb 680s sli so I should in effect get better performance than him - and hopefully I wont have to dial down settings... quick question to keynes whats your average fps on crysis 3 using 2d surround if you max out the settings??

Not sure what that means.

fov = field of view I believe.

I am afraid I do not have crysis 3.
and thats a shame :( on a positive note I believe I have decided to go with the 4 benq xl2420t monitors for my setup :) I do have another question tho lol - apologies for annoying everyone to death and back with questions - since im planning to get 2 4gb 680s - in the future if I want to upgrade my gpus or add and 3rd 680 in say 6 months time will I need to buy a new mobo - this is the one im planning on buying as of today - asus sabertooth x79 - I would buy the rampage mobo I believe its called however I do not plan to over clock. thanks to everyone thats advised me in the past on monitors and stuff :) it feels great to just decide for once :D

It should support tri-sli but I think the P9X79 Pro will be better for that 3 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (dual x16 or x16, x8, x8)
