Hi guys …
I’ve been reading up and changing system components for the past week and have almost settled on a setup but I’m torn between a better cpu with low end graphics card or just saving some money and going with an apu.
My current setup is a i5 skylake from 2016 so can’t even be updated to windows 11 and takes about 10 minutes from powering until I can properly use it. A format and reinstall would probably sort this but I’d prefer to keep it as is for now as all my programs are setup how I like them and at least I can go back to them on there if needed.
As in the title it’s not goint to be for gaming but would like something that boots quickly and opens and runs programs just as fast and especially when researching anything I have a tonne of tabs open in a browser running so I can flick back and forth … obviously nothing like a game nowadays would need.
My budget was £700 - £750 and I’d set on a Ryzen 7 5700x but then even adding a basic gforce gt 1030 took me over budget …
I then thought if that’s the case for what I want I’d probably be aswell with an apu and using the ryzen 5 5600gt would probably give me a similar feel and save £100.
As much as I’d like the 5700x for its speed and a bit more futureproofing I wouldn’t be able to afford a better card than the 1030 which is prob not much better than my 2gb sapphire 290x I have now.
Any thoughts on which route would be better ? I’m happy to pay for the 5700x and 1030 if that’s gonna do the job for me.
Typically the case I chose seems the only one to take a dvd writer, which I want as my daughter listens to cd’s and vinyl a lot with both connected to her speakers, has gone out of stock today and it due back til 31st March but I can wait … spec link below
