When I am running World of warcraft classic or ARK Survival evolved the fans will spin up and sound like they are going rapid but there is no preformance effect and it stops the fan going mental after about 2 - 3 seconds.

I have de-dusted the machine and use compressed air to blow out anything that may be in the card, cpu fan etc, I have also tried to use fan control but it does not even care what settings i put in.

It seems something is causing the card to spin out of control and I can't put my finger on what it is but when wow, ark or nothing is running it never does it but I got this card to be able to handle high graphical settings and it seems when they are enabled it spins out of control?

I know PCSpecialiast must be snowed under at moment so i thought i would bring it here before i contact support.

Regards,
Daryl

Do you think you could dload and run 3DMarks Firestrike torture test? It's a free software (well, there's a free version at least). Also HWMonitor for quick reference at peaks.

Open HWMonitor
Open 3DMark & Run the Firestrike Torture Test
Try and take note if the card fans peak and how often they peak during the test.

Once it's finished, it will describe the system stability to you and show a graph with loads of information on frequency, performance, temps etc.

There may be a pattern between the temperature, load and the noise you are noticing. This would be my first port of call.

My guess is that the fan curve isn't quite set correctly and the temperature is spiking causing the fan controller to maximise to pull the temps down. Once they are under control it levels out.

When I ran the test it give me the following results;

Fans remained fine during the whole test, I have also disabled vsync. When i first got the machine I could run ARK and WoW at same time and everything would be fine but now like i say they spin out of control for 1 to 3 seconds then goes back to running normal

the current settings which were applied by a colleague from work, I am using MSI afterburner to maintain fan control

Currently running temp never really goes above 85 when running a game

It wasn't time spy that i was suggesting, it was Firestrike. Also, it was specifically the firestrike torture test as this will run continuously and stress your system.

That being said, the fan curve is insane. I'm not surprised it's going bonkers above 80C, it's effectively the inverse of falling off a cliff.

If you set it to ramp up after 50 to an actual curve peaking at 90 then it would be far more normal.

Oh apologies I will attempt the test shortly when I have a break from work.

Really? The guy who set it for me advised this would be optimal

I have had a quick go myself, would this be any better?

I don't think the testing is necessary now as I'm positive that's going to be the issue.

Yes, that should be far better noise wise but I would pull the 45/60°C points down a little

45°C would be fine just above the base of 40, 50 around 45%, 60 around 50% then leave the rest as it is.

Seems to have made a slight difference so far but still sometimes it's still revving up quite high, ill continue to monitor it with new curve in place.

Also another question if anyone is able to assist, i got a RGB strip placed in machine but how do I actually change the colour the strip is outputting as it seems to always be the same colour and kind of fancy matching it to the front of my case rather than different colour

I would play around with the curve. Is there not a default option though?

For the RGB with that motherboard I think the software is called Ambient LED?

Hi yeah the default is as shown below

Also thanks for all the responses and help so far scott as seem to be getting closer to resolving the issue than where i was last week! If you believe default will be better I will go ahead and apply this and see changes it makes :)

The software i can see if for the motherboard will that allow control of the strip which they have installed around the machine aswell? :p

No worries at all. I would leave the default then. That looks like a proper curve :)

The software I'm not sure on. I've never used it. With Gigabyte it's normally RGB Fusion but not with that motherboard. Anything connected to the RGB headers should be controlled via Ambient LED as far as I'm aware.

Thanks, I will leave it on default and monitor it for a few days after this change :)

Trying to find Ambient LED but not being able to find anything, ill continue to have a search around and yeah unfortunately RGB fusion doesn't work on my motherboard :(
