Hey guys!
I have purchased an Octane II Pro from PCS with 6700 and GTX 980 and I have 2 major problems.
1) On the UK website of NVidia (link) it is clearly stated that the desktop GTX 980 in laptop is also valid for the promotion, however on the PCS website they probably using the theme from the US website (where GTX 980 is missing from the list) and thus GTX 980 is not mentioned as a valid VGA. Just to clear thing up, I have contacted PCS on chat several times and all chat assistants ensured me that I will get the game so I made the order. After the order was dispatched I still have not received the game code in email (I was told that I wil lget it in email) so I contacted PCS again on Tuesday and again I was ensured that I will get the code and I only need to wait a few days until they process it. On Friday still no code, so instead of online chat, this time I wrote a message, however this time I received a replay saying that sorry, my order is not valid for this promotion...what the?
2) I need a 100% working screen so even 1 bad pixel would be unacceptable for me. Because of this I specifically asked them to very carefully test the screen and to make sure, I even purchased 1 year dead pixel warranty. I live in Hungary, but PCS ensured me that the Dead Pixel warranty is now valid for Hungary too.
During the building and testing process I have noticed something. I have noticed that the Quality Check was skipped and after Testing it was dispatched immediately. It went into testing on Friday and dispatched on Monday so I figured QC was probably done during the weekend.
However when I turned on the laptop after receiving it, I was rather disappointed after seeing that the screen has not 1, but 2 bad pixels, right near the center of the screen where it is easy to spot.
1 pixel is white with back background and 1 pixel is red with white background.
During testing it was probably not spotted because it was on a test bench and the tester did not spot them from a long distance.
I contacted them for an RMA, I hope the next thing I hear will not be "Sorry we were wrong, we will not honor Dead Pixel warranty for Hungarian customers)
Now I will still not have a working laptop for weeks, just because Quality Check was skipped ... my first PCS purchase but I am a bit disappointed because now they are saying that I will not get the free game and they even skipped QC and sent a faulty laptop ...
