Hey guys, hope your all doing well! I was just chatting to my neighbour for a few hours and he reccomends to change my build that I planned to buy in certen areas - do you agree with these changes?


I was going to buy : intel core i7 quad core 3820
neighbour says change to : intel core i7 quad core 3770k

I was going to buy : asus sabertooth x79 mobo
neighbour says change to : ASUS® P9X79 PRO: INTEL® SOCKET LG2011 - apparently its open and so wont hold dust and ruin it or something??

I was going to buy : 16GB kingston hyperx beast 2400mhz ram
neighbour says change to : 16GB KINGSTON HYPERX GENESIS QUAD-DDR3 1600MHz - low profile is better or something?

I was going to buy : sli 4gb 680 gpu
neighbour says change to : sli 670 2gb - not sure depends if I change my mind on multi monitor I still like the ideal of sli 4gb 680s tho :p

I was going to buy : 120gb ssd + 2tb hdd
neighbour says change to : 120gb ssd + 480gb ssd for games - much faster boot times and stuff apparently? will this make such a big difference? its an extra £200 give or take

I was going to buy : super quiet triple copper heat pipe cooler intel cpu cooler
neighbour says change to : a bigger more expensive one? - is it really needed I dont want high temps in my case tho - case is the cooler master haf-x case I will have fans on max 90% of the time....

I was going to buy : asus xonar d2x sound card
neighbour says change to : asus xonar stx sound card - in general a better card I guess..

apologies for such a long read I would greatly appreciate feed back - this build is for triple monitors - but thats not really important except for the gpu part.

I think you got a lot of feedback on your previous posts and the i5-3570/3770 was also mentioned. You won't be able to have the i7-3770 with an x79 motherboard.

I would agree with the ram change,not sure I could agree with his other suggestions though.

ok thanks guys keynes what mobo would you recommend? as he said the 3770k was a far superior option.

ah thanks very much :) not long till my build will be infront of me :p getting more and more excited everyday, just keep making changes and spending more money lol "_"

budget is around £2500 > usage will be muti tasking - extreme gaming, as I said before, still havent decided on my quad monitor setup or not, but I think I have to try it :) - and a little video editing. Thanks
