Hello everyone and greetings from a new user in the Manchester area.
I am looking to buy a new All-In-PC to replace an old HP desktop which is now showing its age. My wife and I use our current PC for emails and browsing the internet, using microsoft office, storing & viewing photos, storing and playing I-Tunes music and accessing Sky TV programmes.
This is the spec I've saved, but wonder - given how we'll use it - whether I've gone 'over the top' with anything and have added some questions below:-
SAVED SPEC OF BUILD
Chassis & Display VanGuard Series: 23.8" Non-Touch Screen (1920 x 1080)
Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor i7-7700 (3.6GHz) 8MB Cache
Motherboard ASUS® H110-T: (Mini-ITX, DDR4, USB 3.0, 6Gb/s)
Memory (RAM) 8GB Corsair 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 8GB)
Graphics Card Integrated Intel® HD Graphics
1st Hard Disk 1TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 2.5" SSHD - UP TO 5X FASTER THAN HDD!
External DVD/BLU-RAY Drive 8x Slim USB 2.0 External DVD-RW
Memory Card Reader Integrated SD Memory Card Reader
Power Cable 1 x 1 Metre Cloverleaf UK Power Cable
Sound Card 2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC/Headphone Jack
Wireless/Wired Networking GIGABIT LAN & WIRELESS 802.11N CARD
USB Options 4 x USB 3.0 PORTS + 2 x USB 2.0 PORTS AS STANDARD
Operating System Genuine Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit - inc. Single Licence
a) RAM - do I need 8GB or will 4GB suffice?
b) Do I need such a powerful processor? Will another less expensive one do all that we need?
c) Do I need professional Windows 10 or will the stabdard version suffice?
d) There is no mention in spec, but is there an Ethernet connection for wired internet connection to my Sky router?
e) Anything else that could be changed given our intended use, although some of the spec shown is standard with no other options listed.
Any thoughts would be gratefully received - and a big thank you in anticipation.
