Looking at buying from cyber pc, building for a competitive 1440. This what I’m thinking, any recommendations?

Would look something like this can still be tweeked this was rushed on my last break but people cane edit this config into somthing more accurate for you would not opt for open loop water cooling for just a gaming build in my opinion is just a waste of money all in one cooling is just as good for alot cheaper

Would use the cappellex version of the cpu cooler but its currently out of stock

Dedicated sound card isnt needed in this day and age onboard sound is very good

Really wouldn't go for an Intel i9-11900K. The AMD R9 5900X has basically same single core performance but 50% more multi-core performance. It draws less power (PL2 at 142W vs. well over 200W on the i9), better security etc. Hard to see a downside to choosing the AMD. Frankly, I'd prefer a 5800X to a i9-11900K.

The @jamiephillips909 build is really solid. I'd only change the case (either use the 4000D or 5000X since both are better than the 5000D for GPU cooling) and cut the RAM to 3200Mhz (since the 3600Mhz is CL18 vs. 3200 at CL16 so little real difference, so why pay more).

I wouldn't trust any review that recommends any Intel processor at the minute except in extreme budgets systems like the 10400f

They are either misunderstanding the data or purposefully obscuring it as AMD has Intel beat on almost every single category right now

AMD has Intel beat in pretty much every metric that matters at the minute.

The 11th Gen Intel CPU's are worse than the 10th Gen CPU's for example just to show badly Intel have dropped the ball

The 5800x will give you all the performance you need. The 5900x would be a luxury choice, but you probably wouldn’t see and performance improvement, as most games wouldn’t make use of the extra cores.

You can drop the RAM to 3200Mhz if it's just for gaming.

The 3600Mhz Corsair Vengeance RAM PCS use has a clock speed of CL18 whereas the 3200Mhz has a clock speed of CL16. What this means in non gibberish is that in terms of gaming these are basically identical sticks so you can save a couple £ there

Can I ask what monitor you'll be using? I see people recommending a 3080 so I assume you have a monitor that can support the 3080? Otherwise it's a waste of money, Monitors that could make use of the 3080 start at around £800

Most games don't use the extra cores YET. We don't build computers for our needs now we build them for their projected use in future. Warzone for example will use every core available so I think it's fair to say that games are moving in that direction

5800x is a superb CPU but the 5900x is better for future potential
