New PCS pc, can’t connect to internet

Hello all,

I bought my dad a PC from PCS which came today, so setting it up for him now. Windows installed ok after connected to his wifi but as soon as I got to the desktop I lost internet connectivity after a minute or so. Initially thought this was his internet so connected to my phones hotspot, however this has the same issue. WiFi is connected but no internet.

It DID work originally as it connected ok to install/update windows etc so I’m stumped. I haven’t done anything on it yet which might have affected the wifi. Literally just turned it on.

Any ideas or advice please? Spec posted below for info;

Have you installed the antenna?
Yep both installed.

It doesn’t seem to have an issue picking up or connecting to the actual wifi - a strong signal is shown. Just no internet.

I have managed to hold an internet connection for a few minutes but then it disappeared again.

You have a wireless network card and onboard wifi - which one are you connected to?
Sorry, how would I check this?

I just connected to the wifi network when it prompted me on the windows install (which worked) and then it didn’t work once logged on. Then I selected it again in the system tray WiFi option

Sorry, I worded that terribly.

Which one have you connected to? Have you tried connecting to the internet via ethernet? If so, which port did you connect to? The one on your motherboard or the one on your network card?

It appears to be using the dedicated intel wifi card.

The router is opposite side of the house so not possible to use Ethernet right now. I e tried both my homes hotspot wifi and the house router - both connect to wifi with a strong signal but neither show internet access.

Other devices in the house are working fine on the wifi

It’s very strange as it will connect for a few minutes and work fine. Then will lose signal again.

I would 100% think it was the house router however it does exactly the same on my phone wifi
