Is there a particular reason for a preference of Intel? The only possible time I’d consider doing a build on one of their CPUs if it was for one of those random bits of software that only plays nicely with Intel. If you’re a general user for any normal application, AMD is just miles better. At everything. Intel used to have the market at high refresh 1080p gaming but that’s no longer the case.

You may find it a little difficult to find someone here who’ll happily help you spend £2500 on an Intel system. And it’s not because they’re AMD fanboys, it’s because it’s absolutely the right way to go right now and the experienced spec helpers want you to get the absolute best for your money. You won’t get the best with Intel now, and probably not for another three years minimum.

It's a very basic 1080p monitor which is really outdated by today's standards, if you're looking at the 3080, then you need around £1000 for a suitable monitor to make any use of it.

I have done a bit more research and I'm trying to go towards the high end of the performance spectrum and build a PC that will last at least three years (though hopefully a lot more!). My budget is around the £3k mark, and I'm looking to future proof for RTS, simulation and city builders predominantly - those games with lots of moving parts.

I see the budget is really healthy so we can help recommend parts so you get the most for your cash

Quick notes are the on CPU and storage set up. The 5950x is phenomenal but the 5900x will outperform it in gaming for example so knowing what the machine will be used for helps us with recommendation

I'd also recommend the 500GB Samsung 980 Pro as a boot/OS drive due to it's ridiculous speed then then another super fast but not as fast M.2 2TB for your storage

I'd also recommend a 1000W PSU as the 3080Ti get's really close to the 850W usage so it's nice to give it breathing room

All in all though looks like a really solid build

Boot drive for the OS and some key programs. I keep anything that launches on start up on my boot drive for example.

so as has been mentioned in that thread to the OP - that is a 1080p monitor so are you planning on updating it as the 3080 is overkill for a 1080p monitor.

So are you getting a monitor to suit, if so then it looks ok, personally i'd spend another £18 and have the 1000W RMx instead of the 850

so as has been mentioned in that thread to the OP - that is a 1080p monitor so are you planning on updating it as the 3080 is overkill for a 1080p monitor.
