I'm buying a new PC for both gaming and watching streams at the same time. I have two monitors, a 1440 and a 4k. I use the 1440 for gaming and 4k for streaming. Please can I have some advice on the specs I have posted above. My highest budget would be £3000 but I would prefer it to be closer to £2000.

Thanks.

What 1440p monitor do you have? I'm presuing that, if you are using it for gaming, it is at least 144Hz, but it's important to know before speccing a system!

Initially I’d say you’ve gone for the top CPU out there, but other things are not on par with it. Your cooling is way too inadequate for a cpu that runs hotter than many others. I’d be looking at a H115i or H150i aio instead.

The psu could prob be a 850 or 1000 for more headroom.

And lastly, DDR5 ram is expensive right now, do you reallly need it? Why not go DDR4 and use the money saved on more critical items?

I’m not an expert on streaming requirements but the GPU might be underperforming there. I’ll let someone else comment on that.

My monitor is DELL - S2721DGFA Quad HD 27” LCD Gaming Monitor, 1440 and I believe 165Hz

I've gone for top CPU because I'm fed up of my current PC always using 100%. Cooling is the thing I'm worried most about because I have no idea about it. As for the DDR5 vs DDR4, I'm not sure how different they are, I just went for the higher one. I'm just thinking that if I want to upgrade my graphics card in a few year, I will need sufficient other specs. Thanks

My current specs are awful, 5 years old now.
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7600K CPU @ 3.80GHz 3.79 GHz,
ASUS® Z170-P: ATX, LG1151, USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs
16GB HyperX FURY DDR4 2133MHz (2 x 8GB)
Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
There's nothing awful about those specs apart from the GPU could do with an upgrade.

If it's running at 100% CPU, it's because of a software issue, likely a virus stealing resource, it's nothing to do with the hardware.

It's worth saying that your GPU should be running at 100% in gaming. If it's not then you're wasting your money or are bottlenecked.

Oh, I just assumed they were bad because they're so old. Currently I'm playing World of Warcraft and watching stuff on Google Chrome and that's using all my CPU

5 years is by no means old. A PC should last 7 - 10 years with a couple of GPU upgrades in that time.

You don't need to replace the whole PC, that's the whole point of a gaming PC is that it's upgradeable when the GPU gets too old.

You just need to upgrade your GPU.

But would the rest of my specs be able to handle a 3060Ti?

Yes, that could handle the 3060ti. You wouldn't need to upgrade anything else.

You could order a 3060ti through the upgrades section on the PCS account, and they'd ship it next day once it's available. It's very easy to fit yourself and we can help with that if you need some guidance.

I agree that it would be able to handle the upgrade and that it shouldn't be running at 100%, but it is worth saying that the 7600K is not a terribly strong chip: it's a 4-core 4-thread chip, which is underpowered by today's standards. I wouldn't put significant money or effort into upgrading that system.

Yeah, I feel like my current CPU is not capable of gaming and streaming in 4k

Interesting, I didn't expect that. But what about 100% of my CPU being used by WoW and Chrome?
As said, if that's the case it's because something is stealing resources.

You need to troubleshoot what processes are using CPU at these times.

It's almost certainly a dodgy chrome addon or a virus.

You're not gaming or streaming in 4k, you've got a 1440p monitor.

I'm currently gaming at double your resolution with a 4th gen i7 very happily.

Your CPU is not the issue.
