Just thought I'd say hi, I'm new here. Just ordered an Octane II 15.6 with 980m, 512Gb Samsung M.2 and a couple of HDDs. Looking forward to it!
I'm a part-time gamer who mainly uses a desktop PC and is thoroughly tired of underpowered laptops. In their quest to reduce energy consumption, laptop CPUs seem to be getting slower. I use a Lenovo Yoga III pro, which despite costing over a grand, is a dreadfully slow and underpowered machine with its dual core Broadwell Core M CPU. No doubt the Octane will fix that with its i7 6800 quad. I ordered it with 32Gb Ram, which is obviously way over specified but did it "just because I can". It only cost an additional £70 or so. The extra space might come in handy for video encoding with Premiere Pro. And for playing around with a RAM disk.
Also thought about the 3k screen but ended up with the 1080p because I reckon the 980m will struggle on newer games on high settings.
I've not seen any real reviews of the Octane II so if anyone is aware of any, would be interested.
