New laptop ordered!

So, I had a weak moment and ordered a new laptop! They’ve just started building it today! Cannot wait!

The wait is always painful! But I had a previous build from PC Specialist and it kicked butt! That was for when the original Skyrim was launched!

Added the 250GB WD Black™ M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD for the OS, for speedy boot times!

Doesn't normally take more than a day for dispatch but it can happen - I know one time mine didn't get dispatched on the day I was expecting it to cos DPD had sent a smaller van than normal (due to a breakdown or something) and so they couldn't dispatch as much as normal and so mine didn't go that day.

If it doesn't go tomorrow give them a call, something may have got missed somewhere

I got a similar set up. Instead
Got 32gb ram
1st drive is 2TB Samsung Evo
2nd drive is 1tb Samsung evo

M2 drive is 1tb Samsung pro.

I even paid for fast track build last Friday. It went into testing yesterday but pc specialist rang yesterday afternoon telling me I can’t have raid and partition the drives. So got rid of the drives. Later that night I decided to update/change the drives to the above.

I was expecting it to go back to build status today instead it’s still saying testing. 😡

Haha, in fairness it’s all gone fairly quickly so far! I really am excited! I’d like to receive it tomorrow really! But the fact it’s still awaiting departure doesn’t fill me with confidence to be honest. Sad times.

If it hasn't been dispatched yet it will not get to you tomorrow unfortunately , the deliveries are next-day-deliveries.

don't worry. When a system is done testing and ready to go, we mark it as "awaiting dispatch", which basically means it's being packaged up for you. Our courier shows up twice a day and depending on time and amount of orders, your system should be handed over to DPD today. You will get a confirmation with the tracking code later thorugh email from DPD themselves, normally around 6:30pm to 7pm. And if you do get said email, it is fairly certain you get it tomorrow. Depending on where you live DPD needs a day for UK mainland and 2 days for say scottish islands. I haven't checked your order, but if you give us a ring, we're happy to check the status.

I rang up for mine today. They said they should have it dispatched tomorrow. I even paid for a Saturday delivery (apparently that just means I don’t want it on weekday) so asked the girl to cancel Saturday delivery. As id like it ASAP. She said after speaking to the tech guys it should be with me Friday. But as of 17:30 today it’s still down as “testing”

That's kinda what it means. Were you working on the basis that it meant Saturday as well as Mon-Fri rather than instead of?

Lol yes. I thought if they dispatch it Friday and I pay for Saturday delivery then I’d atleast get it next day and not wait for the weekend to end.

Although the fact that it’s still under “testing” I’m wondering if they don’t dispatch it till Friday which means if I kept the Saturday delivery I’d be have had it this Saturday. And not wait for next week.

That's what I was fearing... you could always call them tomorrow, see what the deal is, and if they guarantee it won't be ready Thurs but will ship Fri whether you can reinstate the delivery. Hopefully it will all be a nice simple dispatch tomorrow with your system arriving just before the weekend ofc.

I have received notification that it has been dispatched! Awesome! I’m very excited. The only sad part is I’ll be at work when it arrives! I have to ask someone to sign for it when it arrives! I’m certain it’ll be worth the wait!

If you live in the Uk mainland area, DPD needs a working day. So even if it gets dispatched late today, you should have it delivered tomorrow. Keep an eye out for the status change on your order and the tracking number send in an email from DPD themselves.

The waiting is the worst part but when you finally get your new PCS laptop you forget all about that.

The only problem I currently have with my Defiance II is that it still handles everything I throw at it, shrugs and wants more, so I simply cannot justify replacing it yet.

I have had my laptop a few days, and it's brilliant. So far my only real gripe is how easy the power cable falls out.

Also, how do I set the keboard backlight to a solid, constant light opposed to any form of 'animation'. It's cool having flashy choices, and such. But quite often I'd just like a solid light.
