New laptop issues

except in my case I ordered without windows - it still came with windows installed in test mode, I just added my license.
I've emailed pcs, waiting to hear back

Rather than adding the license, it would generally be suggested to do a full clean install of Windows. Install and then force updates over and over until no more are available. That way you’ll know you’re working from a clean slate. If you’re still having issues after that, please start a new thread in the support area, listing your full specs and outlining the problems.

For a temporary fix, can you disable sleep mode and just set a screen saver instead when running on mains power? I have had endless problems with sleep mode on work laptops and avoid as much as possible.

Yes, I don't run mains power much as it drops the life of the battery, i never enable hibernate or sleep - as you said, so many problems are caused by this.

Definitely smells like a cpu/gpu management power/cooling issue.

After a fresh install of Windows 10 with all updates hasn't fixed it, fans seem to spin up full shortly before turning off unexpectedly.

Will start a new thread with my specs - I'm concerned that this method of troubleshooting means I have to spend a huge amount of time faffing around with something I just bought that clearly appears to have a defect - I've had the Recoil model for over a year now and it's been solid.

Same issue here, sleep mode doesn't work, and the laptop fried itself while carried in a backpack.
Was offered a new version of control center, which resulted in BSOD due to ACPI.dll.
Now i even lost the ability to control fans, rgb, profiles etc.
Reinstalling windows is not a solution without pinpointing the reason for it, the KB responsible or driver update.
Besides, I need to apply all updates since this is a work laptop so i will get to the same outcome.
On top of everything, woke the laptop today from blank screen only to be greeted by random pixels across my monitor. Had to open and close the lid twice to get normal login screen back.
Quite disappointed with the purchase so far...

Reinstalling windows was because the OP ordered without windows so the installation isn’t configured and therefor won’t work stabily.

if you order without windows you’re not supposed to use the test image, it will cause problems.

froo ok m the sounds of the issues you’re having it does sound like a windows config issue also.
