It seems to play everything ok dvds etc... but it wont recognize any blu rays that i put in :( Ive tried looking
for drivers for my drive and firmware but it doesnt seem to have my model on the net anywhere.

Have you installed the blu-ray software,a disk should be supplied with the drive, usually Cyberlink.

If you go to device manager, does the DVD/CD ROM drive have a warning sign? If you have already tried to reinstall the drivers I would suggest try contacting PCS's technical support.

Are you by any chance getting this error?

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I suspect it might be Cyberlink up to their tricks again, they keep moving the goalposts to try and force people to upgrade, resulting in some versions of PowerDVD having issues playing blu-ray or issues with Windows8.
I would try the free trial of PowerDVD 13 to see if it works.

What version of CyberLink PowerDVD and Operating System do you have, versions previous to PowerDVD 12 may have issues with Windows 8.

Thanks guys for your help. Its all a bit weird because i installed the cyberlink software yesterday and set up the region 2 in device manager and
the blu ray region in powerdvd. I had heard that there were some problems with win 8 however im using win 7 so that didnt apply.

Every cd was working except blu-ray. Music, dvds etc.... was fine. There were no error messages or anything which is why i assumed its a software
problem and not hardware. The thing that baffled me is that even in explorer it didnt recognize that a blu ray was present so i thought it must be a firmware
or driver issue since the only drivers that it has was from 2006 windows drivers.

Every other blu ray player i own has its own firmware updates, it seems to be different on a PC or Laptop. The only difference between yesterday and today is
that under settings\blu ray in powerdvd i clicked where it says "Changes remaining" Its not really a click-able button but the system recognized it straight away,
which is really bizarre.

The only other thing i can think of is that i didnt re-boot after installing powerdvd yesterday and although it found dvds fine, it might have needed a re-boot for
blu rays to work, however i didnt get a prompt to re-boot. Other than that im really stumped as to why its ok today.

Honestly i doubt if theres a person who has ever owned a PC and not had one of those "couldnt get it to work today" problems then woke up the next day only to find
"Today its working perfectly" situations :) Thanks again everyone for your help!
