New Incoming PCS Laptop Chassis

The PCS Recoil Laptops usually use the same chassis as the XMG Neo laptops. System integrators get these and add their own options to them. The chassis is made by a company called TongFang operating out of Hong Kong.

XMG previewed their upcoming 2025 model of the Neo 16 at CES and it's looking good. PCS have not shown their hand yet so not sure how a lot of this will translate to the Recoil 16.

It shows further improvements to the liquid cooling and a split motherboard, one side for the CPU and the other for the GPU. They are connected via a PCI 5x8 propriety connector. This does not make it user upgradeable though, it more about allowing easier customised configuration for the likes of PCS, XMG and all the others.

Thanks for sharing. I hope they release new 17'3'' chassis

When you say terrible do you mean worse than 4060 or not enough improved compared to old generation?
What does an apu mean? Sorry my ignorance
Probably better than a previous gen laptop 4060, but that's only when compared to a laptop GPU. A laptop 5050/5060 would be equivalent to a desktop 5040/5050 due to the lower power available.

Not forgetting most decent laptops will have greater than 1080p screens now, so other than for non-gaming use, a 1080p class laptop GPU won't cut it.

Please please get advice before ordering anything, you really have to understand what it is you're buying, you can't just get anything, it has to match your specific requirements.

I want to buy a laptop for playing age of Empires definitive edition in 1440p with 17'3'' because i wont use external screen.
Reading what you guys wrote head, I decided to wait for an AMD CPU and new chassis but with no more than 4060/5060

Personally, I believe the minimum for a laptop GPU is a 5070ti 12GB; laptops cannot be upgraded, therefore it's always recommended to go as high as feasible.
As @TonyCarter mentioned, a 1080p GPU (or anything with 8GB of VRAM) would be insufficient for a 1440p gaming laptop.

Age of Empires Definitive edition. Is this Age 2 or Age 3?

I play both games smooth on my PCS Octane III GTX 980m at 1080p.

So I think 5070Ti would be good option. With some decent cost effective future proofing.

I’m not suggesting amazing value here. But given how the PC makup has been since 2016 I think the laptop sector isn’t bad. Here is what i would want. My 2016 octane was 2200.

age 2, 5070ti i think is overkill isnt it? i read in reddit that people with 2060 are moving the game in 1440p, but im not sure if they have the enhanced graphic pack

i have a 3060 in desktop 12 vram and is totally overkill, but its true that laptop graphic cards dont have more than 8 gb :(

my budget is less than 1800€ :S

thanks for helping me!!

If you create your own thread in the check this spec forum, we can offer some advice.

@TonyCarter @Ekans2011 that is what i heared, that 4060, 5060 are for 1080p, but im my desktop i have 3060 and is totally overkill for age of empires

age of empires is not demanding, but 1440p is what makes me a bit worried...

how can i know if for this game would be enough XX60 ? my budget is under 1800€

im not planning to play any other game more demanding so i am no worried about it

You're getting confused.

A desktop GPU is substantially more powerful than a laptop GPU, they're different silicon.

So a desktop 3060 is around a laptop 3070

Age of empires is also heavily CPU dependent.

Plus you're increasing resolution. The step up from 1080p to 1440p is the difference of around 2 million pixels up to 3.7 million, so it will need almost double the power to drive.

PLUS, laptops can't be upgraded and the first bottleneck will be the GPU, so to extend the lifetime of the laptop, you need to overspec the GPU as much as possible.

So a 5070ti would be the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM not allowing for any future proofing.

I'm tempted with upgrading my laptop this gen, but can someone who knows much about them explain to me if G-Sync (which is available on competitors) is a big miss on these chassis? They dont seem to have it but then some places I read suggest not to buy one without it?
