New Gaming Rig

Hi All,

I've been looking at buying a gaming pc for aaaages, but have had some real reservations.

I've looked at both Dino PC and PC Specialist. I'd originally gone to purchase a system in May but Dino PC's customer service was too lax so I went ahead to place an order with PC Specialist. I priced up my rig only for the price to jump over £30 in the time it took me to make a sandwich. I got in touch with PCS and they wouldn't honour the original price so that put me off ordering at the time.




Anyway...I will be playing games such as Metro, Wolfenstein, GTA V & Crysis. I've got a budget of £800 and have pretty much my final specs which are as follows:

Is it worth upgrading to the 4690 and Z97X Gaming 3 and is it worth considering the 280 over the GTX 770?(I'll be gaming at 1080p and intend to upgrade within 6 months)

Any advice/answers would be appreciated. Also, if there's any discount codes about I would very much appreciate a PM.

What are you planning to upgrade in 6 months? I would change the drive to the caviar black, leave the motherboard, 1600mhz ram and stick with the gtx 770 which should be slightly better than the r9-280x

I'll be looking to upgrade the GPU come Christmas, hopefully in time for the 800 series or a new AMD line up. Is the WD Caviar Black significantly better than the standard 1tb HDD or is it a matter of a few mbs per second?

Dependent on the Game the gtx 770 should handle ultra settings at good fps. Black should be faster, consideri your budget and your spec i wouldn't recommend skimp on the drive.
