New gaming pc

I am looking at this spec for a new gaming pc. Max £1500. Can add second HD at later date and better video card.
Any advice welcome.

If you're gaming at 1080p the 1060 is perfect for runnning well at 1080p

I spec'd the system I did because I have lots of DVD's that I still use all of the time for films / music videos.

Then use an external DVD drive which you can have sat on top of the case The Ultima is much, much better value.

Must admit that I an confused about the stage 3) HARD DRIVES, OPTICAL STORAGE

1st Hard Disk
2nd Hard Disk
M.2 SSD Drive
2nd M.2 SSD Drive
Intel Optane Memory
1st PCI-E SSD Drive

I have spec'ed a system and have chosen the following,

1st Hard Disk 500GB Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 520MB/sW)
2nd Hard Disk 1TB WD BLACK 3.5" WD1003FZEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)

Or is there a better way of doing it. I see a lot of people choose M.2 SSD Drive after a standard HD.

A M.2 SSD is basically a faster SSD, if you have spare budget, I'd suggest getting a small(ish) one as your main storage drive, this will be used to boot windows and in general won't be used to play games from. It will make your PC start up much faster.

What concerns do you have? Recommendations for drives are usually, 1 smallish SSD/M.2 SSD and then larger HDD's for main storage.

If I choose:

1st Hard Disk as 1TB WD BLACK 3.5" WD1003FZEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm)
then a M.2 SSD Drive: 256GB SAMSUNG PM961 M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 2800MB/R, 1100MB/W)

Would that be a better choice then with the OS installed on the M.2 SSD ?

The WD Black HDDs are insanely expensive. Stick to a regular 7200rpm one. There's no point to the WD Blacks for your uses.

But I also use AutoCAD for work, and my old pc(this one) is now very very slow in 3D modeling and saving files. That's why I had chosen the Black drive, trying to get a good compromise between gaming and work use.

The WD Blacks are over priced, and perform worse than their samsung rivals like the PM and SM series M2 drives.

And they're still overpriced and still won't get you any real performance advantage... if the files benefit from faster storage, the OP should be putting them on the SSD anyway................

I fully agree with this. Normally you should use the SSD (Solid State Drive) to install the operating system, and also some games. After that, you should primarily use the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) which should normally be a few TB.
