i can always get a cheaper case if i need to spend a bit more on it.

That spec is absolutely spot on, only thing i would change if anything is the case to maybe the CM Elite, which in my opinion looks better and would save you some £££

thanks. i was having another look and if i did get the CM elite, and went for the 2.8Ghz processor rather than the 3.1 Ghz and got rid of the extra CPU cooling then i could just about afford the GTX465 rather than using my GT240. would this be worth it?
if i didn't do this i would end up waiting a few months and buying a better graphics card anyway.

Hell yes.

In a word, or two.

The 465 would dominate the 240 in every way. Or leave the core machine as it is and upgrade later as you say for an all round stronger machine.

i know the 465 is ALOT better than the 240, but is it worth having less processing power and the standard cpu cooler to get the 465 earlier.
how much will the 240 limit my system?
i am wanting to play some pretty high spec games, e.g. half life 2, crysis, bad company 2, fallout ect. could the gt240 handle these? if not i would probably prefer to get the 465 earlier.

Crysis and Bad Company 2 on a 240 is an exercise in frustration waiting to happen. If you have the patience wait and go for the faster core machine.

If you want to play those games straight away get the 465 now.

ooo, its a tough decision
ill probably go with the 465... if im paying for a decent computer i might as well get the 465 and make full use of it as soon as i get it.
