new build for mates 12 year old brother

Hi,
My mates 12 year old brother wants a gaming pc for £600.I would be grateful if i could get some input on which components (from this site) to choose.
It would be preferable if information as to why which components you suggest could be provided so I can make the most informed decision.I am P.C. savvy but I have not followed contempary hardware for some time.

Mantadog's spec is much better, 2gb RAM is not very much at all and that case is unsuitable.

Windows 8 is better as an operating system, so I'd advise getting that.

It's a matter of personal taste really,personally I prefer Windows 7.
