For 4K gaming an AMD CPU is definitely the way to go over Intel.

What is your budget?
What are your uses besides gaming? e.g streaming, editing, design
What monitor are you using or have in mind? Make and model or resolution and refresh rate would be handy to know. For reference the 3070 is a 4k 60hz GPU.

budget is roughly around 1500 gbp could be pushed slightly
Only gaming and once uni comes again game design will be the main usage.

I appreciate that, but AMD is far superior in terms of performance and upgradeability. Right now I honestly can't recommend an Intel build. This is the AMD equivalent. This is as bare bones as I would recommend for 4k 60hz.
