Hey everybody

im closing in on the amount needed to buy my new computer so i thought after mix and matching different setups i have come to a result.

i will be using the computer for purely gaming , i wont be overclocking my CPU maybe my GFX card in the future . i have the few questions as if you be kind enough to answer them .

1. is there any point going to a i7 CPU ?

2. will this rig play BF3 on ultra , if not what to i need?

3.would buying 1 SSD drive and 1 HDD drive be worth it or should i just but the HDD drive and the SSD cache , plus is the SSD cache worth the 100 bucks?

4. Getting the 1050 watt power supply a good idea if i want to SLI in the future?

5. Will the tripple copper heatpipe be enough for my needs or should i get the titan for overall performance boost? and if i do pic the titan will i lose the side fan on the CM sniper?

6. left this for last because its not a big issue but which case would be best for my requirments ? the cm sniper ( which i have picked below ) or the HAF-X?

rig below, thanks

1. is there any point going to a i7 CPU ?

Yes, but only if you want the absolute best performance. If you are like most of us and need to keep an eye on the price, then the i5 is a good choice. It will be more then enough to game on for sure.

2. will this rig play BF3 on ultra , if not what to i need?
Not 100% sure. I would be surprised if a 580 was unable to play it on ultra. Only a small percentage of people will have the power of a single 580 in their gaming rigs so i would think that you would be able to. Someone may know on these forums but i'm not sure myself.

3.would buying 1 SSD drive and 1 HDD drive be worth it or should i just but the HDD drive and the SSD cache , plus is the SSD cache worth the 100 bucks?

In my opinion if your going to have a SSD then you should have windows installed on it + one or 2 of your games. That way you get the really fast startup and loading benefits. Combined with a HDD for storage then it will be really fast. For me SSD's dont make sense yet because they cost too much per Gb. I would rather spend 5 seconds waiting for itunes to open rather than .5 seconds but have to pay through the nose for it.

4. Getting the 1050 watt power supply a good idea if i want to SLI in the future?

Yes.

5. Will the tripple copper heatpipe be enough for my needs or should i get the titan for overall performance boost? and if i do pic the titan will i lose the side fan on the CM sniper?

Tripple copper heatpipe will be plenty unless you plan to overclock. I presume you don't so i would stick with your choice.

Also do you need the soundcard? I would stick with onboard as it will be fine for almost everything bar studio music production.

thank you for all your input !

If by the time it comes to buying my computer and i can afford the i7 i will get it .
so i should just not bother wasting my money on a ssd cache or ssd cos i dont really mind waiting the extra 5 seconds , all i care about is gaming!

prob will pick the sniper cos its LED are blue and so are my keyboard and mouse , just wanted to know if the haf-x is better wen it comes to SLIing etc?

i have a xfi sound card already on my current PC and i find the sound is way better then my onboard ( then again my onboard is a dell mobo which is prob CRAP!). then again it depends how much my money i have by the end of this month.

i wont be over clocking my CPU ever, so im guessing the tripple copper heatpipe should do the trick ya?

A SSD would only load games faster, no in game performance boost. So i would skip it. A few minutes per day extra loading time isn't going to do any harm.

Onboard sound is really good these days as i said above, also if you already have a card, just transfer the card over when you get your pc if you need better sound?
