Need feedback on my config for a new PC

Good day everyone, I would like to buy a new PC in the near future, I'm kind of a noob to all this so I appreciate your help and feedback !

I'm french and live in France, so keep that in mind regarding the final price of the config and taxes. So far it's around 3 000 euros (little bit more) which would be my max budget, but obviously the lower the better.

My monitor is a RED EAGLE ™ G-MASTER G2770QSU. 2k (1440p) resolution 165Hz and I'm not planing on switching just yet but will eventually.

It's gonna be a gaming PC, I'm looking for the perfect balance between performance and quality. Comfortable performances for ultra settings with some ray tracing on would be the goal.

Updated cooling from H100i Elite to H115i Elite for the 280mm radiator (still unsure)
Updated motherboard from ASUS TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI to X670-P WIFI, I realized I might have gone overboard with my first choice.

It also seems like a 7900XTX for my current monitor would be too much, but it's a choice based a monitor upgrade sometime in the future.

H115i is a very good compromise - it's got almost the same performance as the H150i (3x120mm) but will run quieter due to the 140mm fans spinning slower to move the same volume of air.

The original was not really an upgrade as the X670 is a higher tier than the X870. AMD's new naming system has simply renamed the old B650 to the new X870. There is new direct replacement of the X670 as the next level is the X870E. The differences between the B650 and X870 are wifi7, PCIe 5.0 and USB4/Thunderbolt - so you may find the Gigabyte Eagle or Elite X870 is better value than an Asus Tuf X670.

The Prime motherboards are really meant for non-gaming / non-heavy workloads, as they're seen as the budget option (less USB headers, less m.2 slots, less SATA headers, lower quality components, etc.). TUF level is the lowest I'd go in Asus, and Eagle is fine for Gigabyte (although you'll probably get an Elite one for the same price as a TUF).

It also seems like a 7900XTX for my current monitor would be too much, but it's a choice based a monitor upgrade sometime in the future.
You can't really 'future proof' a GPU, as both the power and technologies within it are changing all the time. The power is quite straightforward, but if you buy a game in the future that needs a newer technology, then having the fastest current GPU now will make no difference if it doesn't support that new technology.

In your shoes I'd go no higher than an AMD 7800XT or Nvidia 4070 Super...and save the difference for a new GPU (new models should come come out in Jan-Mar next year) to match the new monitor when you get it.

I know it sounds like overkill, but I'd upgrade the PSU to the 1200W RMx Shift for a couple of reasons: 1) it's the newer ATX3.1 spec vs ATX2.4 spec (so more protections & overhead for the power spikes we've seen in modern GPUs); 2) it also PCIe 5.0 spec, so more power per rail, which means you can use fewer cables to power beefy GPUs (in some cases 1 vs 4) - and next gen GPUs are not likely to use less power than current models.

I'd also suggest you upgrade to the new 9800X3D, which has now taken over the gaming crown from the 7800X3D...but it's a lot more expensive, so if you can get the 7800X3D you won't feel short-changed.

Thank you very much for your feedback, and the enlightenment regarding the motherboard. It is much appreciated ! I will probably head back for the x870 then and probably downgrade the gpu. As well as wait for a 9800X3D if I get the chance

Very interesting !

Is the airflow on the corsair 5000X that much better ? Because I like the "quiet" aspect of the Define 7. If it is I guess I will swap !

If we put Ray Tracing aside then the better option would be the 7800XT right ? I will have to make up my mind about that.

Yes it is. Whilst the Define 7 is an excellent case, it is designed to be quiet and so airflow is impacted to cater for that. The 5000X is designed for airflow...yes, it isn't as quiet but it also isn't really loud. I have the 5000X and, as people who know me will atest, I am quite sensitive to noise and, in 18 months, I have yet to say "I really need to change that case as the noise is annoying me)

Glad to hear it, I'm quite sensitive myself. Then I guess I will give the 5000X a shot !

If you don't need NVIDIA technologies (DLSS, RT, or FG), the 7800XT is the entry-level GPU for 1440p.

I see, amazing graph by the way. So a 7900XT would also be a great choice. I must admit having a preference for AMD now, and it's often cheaper compared to nvidia / intel. So I will probably pick one between the 7800 and 7900
