Arguably overkill (the 64GB of RAM is definitely unnecessary, and the storage and PSU are also arguably more than you'll ever really need), but otherwise it looks good to me. But wait for the reviews and real-world prices before you decide on a GPU.

Thanks for replying. The memory and PSU are there for longevity. As I wanted ATX 3.1 certified for reliability, I went for the 1200 model over the 1000 as it wasn't much more expensive.

I take onboard £100 more for 64gb ram instead of 32gb is overkill but I'm spending £3000 so what the hell. Maybe in 5 years plus I'll need that extra memory. Getting it now saves me that.

Storage wise 2TB in my opinion is the minimum now for gaming as more games now are getting into the 100gb area.

Since I have a 1440 monitor I won't need anything higher than a 5070 ti as 5080 and 5090 are more 4k GPUs?

I basically want a high end 1440 system with the only thing needing replacing in 5+ years is a GPU.
I hope this build is just that.

I will wait though like you said for the reviews etc. But it's hard waiting hehe.

Looks really good to me. The comment on storage was likely down to the performance level you have chosen for the secondary. The P41 would have been more than ample. With that being said, that's the sort of thing I would go for too.... max performance to cover direct storage if it takes off majorly.

RAM is overkill but if you're thinking of flight simulator then it's a worthwhile punt. It's very unlikely you would otherwise use 64GB of RAM in the life of the system. There are very few outliers where 32GB isn't plenty. I would always be more concerned with vRAM nowadays.

With such a system the 5080 might be considered, for vRAM purposes more than anything.

It's an excellent build.

I agree with every word of this.

The 5080 is likely to be kind of overkill for 1440p, but it could well make sense from aVRAM standpoint as well as potentially a pure performance one. All depends on the actual real world performance, annoying as that is!

I suppose that's where the 16gb 5070Ti comes in then...good for 1440p/ultrawide1440p and enough VRAM for high quality textures at those resolutions.

I had actually forgotten the Ti was 16GB, good catch.

Just need to wait on the reviews now :)

Good shout about the 5080 vram! I could go down to 32gb of ram and a p41 drive and with the money saved towards getting a 5080 instead!
