My New PC Specs

Looking to treat myself to a new PC sometime this summer and for once I thought instead of buying a middle of the road gaming computer, I would push the boat out a little this time as I have a pretty big budget to play with. I am looking for something that will play anything on the market with ease (so high/ultra game settings) and with a new slate of games coming out in the next 12 months like Star Wars: Battlefront, The Division, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Fallout 4 etc, I am looking for some future proofing over the next 3+ years at the same time.

I do wonder if 16gb Ram is over pushing it? I currently have 8 but again am linking this with future proofing, alot of games over the last several years have seen a jump in the memory for playing on maximum settings.

Also I will be keeping my Windows 7 Copy I already have though I have a quick question about that, will my new PC come with it installed and I will just need to use my key code from my copy to verify Windows or will I have to install all my motherboard drivers etc and windows myself.

cheers for your advice.

what is your budget? For futureproofing you need to put more emphasis on the gpu not ram. windows will be installed as well as all drivers, you just need to verify the copy once you get it.

I don't have a fixed budget per se (been saving up spare cash for a while so got a bit to play with over this summer) but I don't think I'd like to go up too much higher. I did consider going up to the next i7 CPU at 4.0ghz but I should be fine with the 3.6Ghz i7 (I am currently running an i5 3.2Ghz). My current card 660 GTX Ti has served me well over the last 2 n half years but this year I've seen it struggling with keeping 2015 releases and some late 2014 ones running at high end-ish specs (GTA V for example). The GTX 970 seemed to me to be a nice jump that should last a while as the next cards up adter it do seem to jump price rather radically.

Everybody says avoid the V300 SSD's. They have issues. I can vouch for Samsung SSD's.
The 970 will certainly play all games well at 1080p. Playing with 'ease' suggests that you mean the GPU is achieving high settings with good fps without being pushed to the limit. You will have to push the 970 to the limit (which is not an issue) and as with any GPU you will have to balance settings vs fps with big games. An AMD GPU is another option as Keynes suggests.
16GB RAM is a reasonable choice.
As far as I know - Your PC will have a version of Windows on it that had to be installed for test purposes. I think this version is limited and will expire. You will have to install your own copy of Windows.
I expect your motherboard, keyboard, mouse will all just work. If you have to install stuff to make exotic features of your motherboard work, that is not difficult.
