Hi,

It's a very high end machine. What will it be used for? If it is for ultra high end gaming I would still describe it as overkill. If on the other hand you are starting up a rival company to Pixar, then it's about right!

For gaming anything over 16gb ram will literally never be used, would just be wasted.

Same with th processor, an i7 6700k would give the same performance.

What resolution are you outputting?

Are you going to be overclocking?

850w would be plenty for sli 1080's

I'm not sure how much the Fractal will like SLI'd 1080s. I'm sure it would be fine, but given that the FEs can dial down the boost clocks due to temps, maybe something like the Carbide 540 Air would be better?

As above, the PSU is far more than you need. Even 1000W would have a lot of headroom.

My fractal took 2 980ti's without a problem, the top one maxing out at 75C tops. If they are FE cards, the blowers could be better at taking the heat out of the case as long as it is not too close to a wall.

The FEs don't cool well with default fan profiles even when it's just one in a case (e.g. https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_1080/32.html). I do think a case with better airflow might be worth considering, as the benefit of the sound dampening will get partly counteracted by having to run the fans higher (and if the OP doesn't set a custom profile, they'll just get lower performance). I'm not saying they'd throttle below stock or anything, but the boost clocks might manage themselves a bit more than they otherwise would.

This review suggested the Carbide Air can keep a single GPU 5 degrees cooler:

Worth thinking about anyway. :)

I'm sorry to say that the Rampage board is an E-ATX board and as such will not fit into the Fractal R5 case as the board will sit on a slight curve towards the hard drive/ODD bay's.
