The only thing is there enough cooling in what I got or could I add more to be sure - as I hear the GTX480s run pretty hot and two would be like a microwave over :cool:

Hello Quander

The specification you've chosen looks great, and would be a brilliant gaming rig :)

Regarding cooling, the HAF 922 case is pretty well equipped with 1 x 200mm front red LED fan, 1 x 200mm top fan and 1 x 120mm rear fan. You've algo got an excellent CoolIT liquid CPU cooler.

I would recommend however that you choose the Corsair 1000W PSU, as this will be better for your gaming rig than the 1200W, especially for SLI.

I had the 1000w PSU selected as I also thought it would be sufficient although it came up with an issue saying that 1200w would be required.

But if you think that 1000w is more than enough though I can make the change on my order as it is still in the pre-production stage.

For the SLI setup you've ordered I would go for either the 1000W Corsair or the 1500W Thermaltake. These use a single rail and can therefore give better power to the GPU's. The 1200W is quad rail and can sometime struggle a little.

Agreed! The specification looks great, the PSU issue has already been pointed out and I would take the advice and move upto the 1500W if your budget can stretch that bit further. As you don't want to bottleneck £800 worth of GPUs with an underspecced PSU :(

I will also make the point of PCI Cards. The GTX480's are dual bay Graphics Cards and the heatsinks/fans will cover the slot next to each card. Therefore going off the picture below, you will not be able to fit the Wireless Network Card or your own SoundCard unless it is a PCI-E x 1.

Ok I have amended my order to 1500w so thats the PSU sorted :D - thing is though I clicked my home addy instead of my work one for the sub-order and cos of that I cancelled at the payment stage, thinking I could go back a step - unfortunately now I have a sub-order with no payment against it :eek: - how do I fix this as the only visible order at the moment is the original one.

Ah drat :eek: I saw the pics of the mobo and thought even with the dual bay they were appropriately spaced to still allow for cards - obviously I am wrong. Ok I guess I will have to go Usb then for my wireless and PCI-E for my Sound Card, making my old card redunant I guess. At the time of ordering that card I read reviews that PCI-E X 1 cards have static problems and dont appear to perform as well as the PCI cards - is this still the case or have they fixed whatever problem was causing that issue.

We have occasionally had the odd faulty card give static but i would not say that it is inherant to all PCI-E cards.

As for the sub order issue i would give the call centre guys a quick call to sort it out.

Cheers for that, before I do, will the Usb wireless be more than sufficient - I went with the PCI card as I heard they have a wider range etc and as I have just currently moved into a new place the delight of wired direct to modem is not an option as its with the owners PC.

I can amend my order for all - the PCI to Usb and On Board Sound to PCI-E X 1 XFI ( also assuming the onboard comes by default either way, should I ever wish to swap out ).

It depends on the brand of nic and the location of the pc / router. I would go for one with a large antennae to give it the best possible chance.

Just saved up for a rainy day and for my tech future proofing - my current rig has done me about 5yrs and would still be considered a more than decent rig :) This new one I am hoping to last just as long - giving most components picked are top of the food chain at the mo :)

Well at the ISP I am with is UPC and the router is Cisco EPC 2425 802.11G Network - from my reading of reviews/ compatibility I have gone with the Linksys by Cisco WUSB600N Wireless-N USB Network Adapter with Dual-Band.

Oh btw the sooner my new build arrives the better as my faithfull 8800 GTX drew its last breathe Tue :( and as with most newer Mobos there was no onboard graphics so it was lucky that a colleague of mine had an old 8500 GT he didnt need.

Please tell me I wont have to wait to much more for my awesome build :)

Ok guys. I can finally say my new Pc has arrived. I have it all setup, old programs re-installed, old hard drives brought across and hooked up to the rest of my family :)

FYI - when you are inserting new drives make sure you go into the bios to ensure the boot order hasn't changed, which it did in my case - but was easily sorted.

I also had the usually hiccup when I went to install my wireless usb I got Linksys in that the drivers that came with it werent Windows 7 compatible so luckily I had my laptop to do the ole download and swap over via flash drive bit. On top of that I had a bug, don't know if it was the dodgey driver from Linksys or just a system cliche but either way my usb slots stopped responding so went into the Device Manager and just uninstalled a few and they re-installed themselves and was back to normal finding my flash drive.

But overall guys it was a seemless transfer and I liked the 3 spare Sata Cables in my welcome pack to meet my 3 old drives - thanks guys from PC Specialist :D

Have a few pics coming from opening to fully setup - thanks again guys awesome Pc and awesome service would defo recommend it to others :cool:
