My new build

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a pc on finance from the guys at pcs, costing 800 odd and is going to be sweet! :) I just was wondering how long anyone else has had to wait for the build? I have seen the chart of what they do, its not till i ordered it that I learned my brother, who has one now from the guys, did a fast track 3 day about a month ago! I thought he got it quite quick and now I know why! lol!

I have been thinking about amending the order to make it come quicker but not sure! I have the delivery day to be a saturday before 12noon.. I am off work on saturday 3rd of august and also saturday the 10th of august.. what do you reckon the likelihood is of me getting it on the 3rd?! that would mean 8 working days till that first sat...?!

It all depends on how busy PCS are mate. If you want an official answer you'd be best off giving them a call.

As Boozad said they will probably know roughly how long it should take if nothing is out of stock, but they cannot guarantee dates.

Remember also it would need to be ready and dispatched on the Friday so that it could be delivered on the Saturday, so that may take a day off your calculations

I would suggest amending the order if you are still in pre production not to make it come quicker but to get a more balanced spec.

I would agree with Keynes, you should be able to squeeze a better GPU, Hard drive and triple copper heatpipe in your build. Especially if you can afford to fast track, the money would be better off spent on components.

i want to play todays games not games in a few years!! I will upgrade as I go! you say copper heatpipe, better gpu and hard drive.... 500 gb is plenty! a 660 is plenty, a standard heat sync is plenty! plus you say that would only cost an extra £40 right?? dont think so! as for sure the power supply would have to go to a 650 as im on 396 now on a 450... come on lads dont **** on my new pc! there is nothing wrong with the spec iv put together!

1. The gtx 660 is at best, average. Here it is only getting 33fps on Battlefield 3 (2 years old and new one is coming out soon)

2. 500gb is hardly anything. I don't have that many games but the games I have take up about 350gb. The OS takes up around 50gb. I have 200gb videos. 14gb music.
Assassins Creed 3 takes up 20gb, this is fairly average for modern games.
Also Caviar Black will be faster / more reliable than the standard HDD.

3. If you aren't willing to upgrade the PSU, you could get a cheaper motherboard.

The suggestion I have is to downgrade the motherboard since it supports SLI but you don't have a suitable PSU, with the money saved you could upgrade other components. There is nothing wrong with the spec you posted but in my opinion you could get a more balanced spec with your budget but it is ultimately up to you.

thought id do a reply to this as I was thinking about it today, read the whole thread (especially Keynes!!!!!!!!!!) same pc setup I ordered has 350gb of space still on it with a decent amount of games and personal stuff, I am currently playing battlefield 4 on it, the settings for bf4 are all on ultra, yes ULTRA!! with HBAD and x4, getting between 140-80 fps on foot or in a land vehicle.... 150-120 in a heli... and around 200fps in a jet... So why again do I need to upgrade my GPU? my harddrive... and as for a copper heat pipe! blah!

another note for Keynes, I will be doing upgrades(when it needs it) one will be more ram, one will be a psu and sli, and one will be a second harddrive, (that I already have) but its not needed for a good while yet! but the base of my pc, the founding thing, yes the mobo.. is a decent mobo!! so downgrading the mobo would have cost me more money in the long run than anything else! :D

If you are able to play BF4 in ultra that's great news, a review online puts the GTX 660 below the 140-80fps you get unless you refer to a lower resolution than 1920x1080

The suggestion was based on the PSU, if you were planning to SLI it would have been more cost effective to upgrade the PSU rather than replace it later on.
If you are happy with your pc that's good, I am happy for you. It was just my opinion, if you don't share it fair enough. Enjoy your rig :)

140fps at 1080p on ultra settings on BF4 with a 660??

Only 150Gb of hard drive used up with Windows (50gb?) and BF4 (35gb) and 'a decent amount of other games and personal stuff' installed?
