I have known about PCS for some years now but never once bought a pc from them. I had a mate who was interested in a new laptop and even though we have a major UK laptop reseller littterally next door to our place of work I thought I would give PCS a try. What drew is into PCS was the fact we could customise our chosen system and we did just that adding more memory and a little more harddrive space. The system isn't for gaming just for general internet browsing a playing with photos and camera movie clips so didn't need to be a powerhorse.
Anyways on Friday afternoon we decided to place the order and choice the Genesis III. We upgraded the basic model from an i3 to and i5 just to give it that little more grunt under the hood we also doubled the ram to 4Gb and the harddrive to 500Gb. The rest of the machine was standard spec.
On monday morning I was supprised then to see a mail to say the machine is now in the testing phase. Took them 6-7 business hours from time of order to have it all built and in testing very impressive . About a day later I got another email to say "Your Order is Awaiting Dispatch" woohoo only one day to go and should have the pc .
Sure enough a day later we got the pc
The laptop came well package though the plastic bag that the actual laptop was in wasn't sealed could have resulted in it slipping out the bag causing damage? Everything else was packaged well. Another point I noticed was the finger prints all over the trackpad maybe a quick polish before distribution also it was a good job there was protective plastic all over the machine because who ever built the machine had obvioulsy previoulsy just come out of a coal mine lol :d. But I wasn't too bothered about this just something worth bringing up first impressions and all.
Anyways booted it all up went through the whole windows 7 setup lark, it all started fine as expected . Tbh I haven't actually seen the machien without all the plastic covering removed or given it a good run for its money. But will do later.
But to sum it up it has been a great service from PCS. The communication of ther order status via email is great and the service from ordering to it being on my desk is second to non (also gratz to DHL). Another thing that also impressed me was the welcome book. A PCS branded quick quid and help manual but very professional looking. I've bought laptops in the past from asus, acer, dell, hp, ibm and others and have never once see a book included of that calibre so very well done.
I would deffo recommend PCS to others round here in the market for a new pc/laptop. The service and the product is deffo A+!
Edit: OK Just had a chat with the guy who we bought the laptop from. He tells me it simply flies IE opens almost instantainously, it connected nice and ez to his sky broadband. He installed skype and was video chatting with his son he did comment though saying the camera felt a little grainy this maybe due to poor lighting though he did mention he was working without lights. He said the machine is nice and tidy and very sleek looking. His son was also impressed. One thing is he was suprised to see no PSC branding at all on the machine would be good to maybe have some nice PCS logo or nice metalic sticker with name etc. But all in all he is very happy with his purchase.
