Hello, I received my PC two days ago, but unfortunately, my first impression wasn’t great.

To start with, I couldn’t perform a Windows update—it was constantly stuck all day. After getting help from Windows support, that issue is finally fixed.

Now I’ve noticed that my PC isn’t very stable during gaming. Sometimes I get 800 FPS, and other times it drops to 250 FPS.

Friends with lower-end components are getting the same or even better FPS than me. In 3DMark benchmarks, I get average scores sometimes, and below-average scores at other times. It’s just not stable.

Can someone help or advise me? Do I need to adjust some settings, or could there be a bottleneck?

I don’t have a lot of technical knowledge, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! 😊

The first thing I would do is uninstall Norton. It's no better than malware these days and will be slowing down your system consistently.

FPS will always fluctuate when you're gaming, depending on where you are in the game and what is being rendered in the direction you're looking. You should always cap it in each game to the maximum your monitor can put out.

The case is nowhere near suitable for the build so you’ll likely be getting some thermal throttling on the GPU, you can test this by benchmarking with the case closed and the case open.

Unfortunately the build isn’t very well balanced overall, it's a shame you didn't listen to the advice you were given

But performance Completely depends on a number of factors - game settings, resolution as the main ones

The ONLY way you could get 800fps with a 4080 is if you were playing at 1080p or you're reading FPS while in a menu or something, if that's the case I bow my head in shame, what a waste of a good GPU

When you posted up here...

There was attempts made to query and guide you, unfortunately you went ahead.

In all honesty I would send the build back and post up with what you are looking to achieve, answering the queries posted here....

It's highly likely you could have a better system for your money and have a higher end experience from the main components.

Hello,

Here in the Netherlands, there is a store that collaborates with PCSpecialist. I bought my PC directly from that store because I had a nice discount code.
The PC cost me €2500, including insurance.

My first impression wasn’t great. I spent two days trying to complete my Windows update, but I finally managed to get it done. Now, I would like to know...

Is there a bottleneck or problem in this setup? Returning the PC is not really an option for me since I got it at a good price. What can I upgrade? Because on my brother’s PC (RTX 4070 Super + Ryzen 7 7800X3D), the same games run at almost the same FPS with the same settings.

I've received mixed advice—some say the case is bad, others say the components are bottlenecked—but I haven't gotten any further details or recommendations.

Can you advise me?

You already have a thread open about this, it’s already been explained, the whole build isn’t well laid out, you have multiple bottlenevks mainly in the cooling and the case, it’s never going to be able to perform properly

As we’ve already advised numerous times, best to cancel and get some advice on something more suitable, it’s not a good price because it’s not going to work properly, you’d have to spend quite a significant amount of money to get it road worthy, that would mean replacing items you’ve already paid for so it will end up far more expensive than if you were to buy a properly configured system that performed better

And if you knew how to build a PC, then why would you buy a ready built PC and not build it yourself in the first place? Because getting this system to where it needs to be would require an entire system rebuild.

The main issue is precisely the lack of information: it's an unknown brand, there's no way to obtain a manual, we have no idea how well the case is built, how well the airflow works, and so on.

Never underestimate the value of a good case, and don't consider of it as simply a metal box.

It's also the price, no way in hell can you factor in flow analysis on a case that cheap, R&D costs rise exponentially when proper design methods are put in place, it's unavoidable.

So the airflow WILL be poor.

Ah, I see there's quite a history of getting good advice and just being ignored, so I won't advise any further, doesn't seem worth it

And then you always follow up with how let down you are

total waste of time. The reason you've had to replace that PC half way through it's lifetime is because it was poorly configured, so it's actually cost you double what you paid.

And you're making exactly the same mistake.

None of this is PCS or our fault, we've all tried to advise you time and time again and you double down on ignoring good advice. Have no time for that.

Unfortunately the build isn’t very well balanced overall

Case: It's a very budget option case. The case is the most important part of any build, more important than the CPU or GPU. Without a case with excellent airflow, the GPU is going to run at much higher temperatures, thus possibly shortening it's lifespan and, entirely possible thermal throttling in the short term. It would be like taking the engine out of a Bugatti Veyron (which has 14 radiators to keep it cool) and putting it in a Ford Fiesta...it's just not going to work anywhere near as well. Cases such as those from Corsair go through rigourous testing to determine optimal cooling and airflow.....PCS cases, on the other hand, are generic cases which are rebranded to PCS and probably go through vastly less.

RAM: Not a massive thing but, if you had gone for the RGB RAM, it has a lower latency and so will gain a little more performance

Drive: You have gone for a big, slower drive. A proper gaming system will have a fast, small primary drive for WIndows and programs and a slower secondary games drive. This also helps with speeds.

PSU: You are at the absolute minimum for that GPU. It does mean, however, if you choose to upgrade the graphics card in a few years to a better one, you will probably need to upgrade the PSU too

Cooler: Again, it's a budget, generic cooler which are not always reliable. A CPU like the 9800x3D really needs a known cooler for optimum performance.

Honestly? Given you've only just bought it, I'd return it from whence it came, then get advice on here about a custom system that would be more well balaced

Sorry some people here didnt like my previous post, sorry guys, hope this time it will be better:)

I had posted earlier, but it didn’t go as expected—my apologies for that.

So, I’m trying again :)

I’m looking for a future-proof computer.

  • I play FPS games at the highest possible FPS using my 1080p BENQ 240Hz monitor.
  • I also play games like GTA at the highest possible quality using my 4K LG monitor.
  • Additionally, I recently started a video editing course and want to dive deeper into it as a hobby.
I had already ordered the PC listed below because I found a great deal at a store here in the Netherlands that partners with PCSpecialist. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity, plus I had a 20% discount code, which made the price very attractive for me.

However, I’m not completely happy with it. First, I had issues with Windows updates, and I often experience game crashes while playing. My FPS sometimes drops to 150 on 1080p, which shouldn’t be happening.

Now, I’ve decided to return it and I’m open to your advice and help!

P.S.: Is it true that a system doesn’t perform optimally when using a 1080p monitor? Should it be at least 1440p (2K) for better performance?

It's futile to start many threads over the same argument, IMHO.

We've already suggested returning that PC because it's not a well-designed system (case and cooler are insufficient, GPU is a waste of money at 1080p, and the PSU does not provide enough headroom to cover the entire lifespan), and I doubt that will change if you post another thread.

No matter what you spec today, the GPU will bottleneck any system in the coming years, and you will need to upgrade it.
There is nothing future-proof nowadays.

If you're looking for advice, what's your max budget?
