mSATA SSD drive for 15.6" Vortex III

I have just been to PWN PCS website and they offer the Clevo P150EM with 30/60/120 GB mSATA drives. Would PCS be offering this as an option via the configurator (the Intel SRT cache drive isn't the same as a proper mSATA SSD)?

Ideally I'd want the 15.6" form factor for portability, but need an 120GB SSD, 750GB HDD & Blu-ray in the same chassis (17.3" is probably a bit too big for me). I'd rather not have to go elsewhere to get what I want, but I will have to consider this as an option if I cannot get what I am looking for here.

Is there a more specific ETA on this. I guess I should hold off on purchasing the Vortex 3 if there are going to be additional specification options in a few weeks.

I can confirm that mSATA SSDs are now available to select on the Vortex series configurators. :)

This is great news.

BTW - have you tested installing Windows directly to the mSATA, with the HDD also in place? (since this was impossible on a Dell laptop that had an mSATA + HDD configuration)?

Yeah good news.

I would also love to know if installing windows on the mSATA would be possible as this is really my only reason for wanting one.

I just always assumed it would be possible until iain_m mentioned it was an issue before with a dell model.

Just to clarify, it appeared to be possible with the Dell (a Precision M6600), but in fact would result in a flashing cursor on a black screen, and an unloadable OS. Dell acknowledged this issue and their only advice was to open up the machine and remove the mechanical hard drives before installing or repairing Windows! :censored:

Is it worth putting one of these mSATA drives in the 17.3" Vortex III? This would effectively allow for two hard drives and an optical drive in the same chassis
