Mouse issues (MS 4000 Wireless Mouse)

i was playing Guild Wars 2 and it died on me, i put a new set of Batteries in (after dying ) and turned it back on, only to find it wasn't responding. the turn it on and the blue sensor light comes on and then turns off again, the light on top does not flash red or green. when i remove the transceiver the PC makes a noise, so it obviously recognises the transceiver. i've tried google but nothing seems similar.

any ideas?

turns out the battery was the issue, despite it being in the charger for 3 days no-one had bothered to turn it on ¬_¬. i found a new battery and it works fine now.
